Mythos cards questions

By Nephilim2, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

In our last game we encountered some Mythos cards that raised some questions. Can't exactly remember the name or whether it where headlines or environments, but it doesn't really matter. (I don't think they where "activity" cards though.)

1) One card flooded two street area's and leaving two Exibit Items. So an investigator ending its movement in that area gained the item. Similar we had a Bless card in the Church.
Main question here is, if you don't collect the items/bless in time (new mythos phase for headlines or new environment is drawn), are they removed?

2) Two ghosts appeard in some location and if you fought one (or both) of them you'd gain also an Exibit Item.
a) Same as previous question are they removed?
b) Do they count for monster limit in Arkham (or do you treat them like e.g. "The Terrible Experiment” mythos card?)
c) Can you choose to fight only one, to give another investigator a chance to gain a Exibit Item, or do you have to Evade it?

#1: I've left them on the board.

#2

a) Left them

b) Count

c) Always treated them as sorta Ghost Mi-Gos (but giving you an Exhibit item and not returning to the box), so you can fight one, evade the other.

I don't have CotDP, so I'm unfamiliar with the mythos in that question. I have had the environment (Hallelujah) that blesses the first investigator to the South Church. If another environment comes up before someone gets to the church, I discard the Hallelujah, and no one gets the blessing.

To me there is a slight difference. Hallelujah doesn't place anything anywhere, merely gives a bonus to an investigator when they stop at SC. Help Wanted and Along Came Jones are similar to Hallelujah in wording, the card itself being removed upon fulfilling the terms on the card. Maybe River Breaches the Levees was supposed to have that wording, don't know.

That Mythos card is from Curse of the Dark Pharaoh so as usual it has a huge gap in its rules.

Strictly speaking, "River Breaches The Levees" doesn't tell you to remove the Exhibit items if it's replaced, so you wouldn't remove them. However unless that Mythos card is in play, there's no rule or card which tells you that you can pick up items which are face-down on locations, so the face-down cards would remain there for the rest of the game, with no rules to govern how you handle them. Obviously this requires a "common sense" solution and I reckon it makes the most sense for the artefacts to be washed away again (i.e. discarded) when the environment goes. It's more exciting if you have to rush to get to them before they disappear and you don't know how long you have.

Dam's right about "Hallelujah!". It doesn't place a card on the board, so once the Mythos card is gone, the ability is gone.

This is probably because of another one of those annoying pedantic rules phrasing things: the act of being blessed is distinct from having a blessing card. It is possible to be 'blessed' by Hallelujah without taking a Blessing card, because if you were already cursed when you stopped at SC, you'd just discard your curse instead. (This is one of probably two main reasons why "Hallelujah!" doesn't tell you to place a blessing card on the board. The other reason is that leaving cards lying around on the board for people to pick up is **** stupid and Curse of the Dark Pharaoh is a crazy-ass expansion which was probably written by mad monks who live in wine barrels.)

Well, Hallelujah on the other hand is a KH card, so it all evens out lengua.gif .

I didn't mean to imply that it was from CotDP. I was talking about reasons why it was a bad idea to leave cards lying around on the board. Hallelujah doesn't do that. I was specifically pointing out that the only reason that Levees does work that way is that it's from CotDP, an expansion which is full of odd cards.
