hello old friends

By dj2.0, in CoC General Discussion

Hi, some may remember me, I hung around here a while ago for a few years. I stopped buying cards when the big box edition came out, m,y last AP was Ancient Horrors. What have I missed? Anything really cool in the releases since then that I should look at thinking about buying?

Also, last I heard Stahleck 09 was moved to December, is it still on?

hi dj!

Hey man! Welcome back!

yes its David :) cool its great to be here again!

Hi David,

Good to hear from you and hopefully see you at Stahleck!

Cheers,

Andrew

btw: your emailaddress isnt working any longer. got a new one?

Hey Andrew! Good to hear from you again! I would love to be in Stahleck this December (even if it will be cold!) but Im not sure yet if I can make it, this year my life has completely changed and Im still dealing with all the fallout. Im not sure what my plans are for December but I am keeping it in mind.

Thorondor - yes a couple of weeks ago, I had to change my email address, I have sent you and Andrew a pm with my new contact details. Keep sending me your news!

So what has significantly changed in the lcg aside from the borders?

Well in terms of the game, I think it's fair to say it's been a controversial year with player unhappiness over poor quality control on some cards and concern over the lack of support for a mixed border format to name just two issues. On the positive side, new cards are still coming and the new format has attracted quite a few new players who seem to have got the Cthulhu bug, which is good to hear. You probably know about the major rule change, the switch to a maximum of three copies of card in a deck rather than four, which I like and I think has generally been received well.

Personally speaking, my game group in St. Neots near Cambridge continues to meet once a month hosted by the redoubtable Colin 'Bigshow' Goodman who often posts on these boards. We meet up to chew the fat and try out our latest decks. Encouragingly we have been joined by a couple of new faces, drawn in the by the LCG, who have shaken up the meta and have achieved some notable successes against the old hands. Otherwise life continues much as before in leafy Cambridgeshire.

How are things with you? I note you mention major changes in your life, I hope for the better. Would you send me your email details again please as I can't seem top find them in my inbox. I blame an overactive spam filter rather than my own incompetence, naturally.

Cheers,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, I have really been out of the loop! Those are challenging changes, and its good to hear you have some fresh cultists in your neck of the woods, here in Berlin I have been off the scene and have no idea.

I like the change to 3 cards, that seems to change a lot of things though. Im not happy about the lack of black border crowd support , but thats business, I guess. I am wondering what the first serial asylum packs have been like, did you like them? Which have the best yog cards in them? And which have some cool monsters (subtype or not?). And were there new cards in the core set?

Dreamlands has me interested again, and I may get back involved. But cash is a problem as ever.

As for the changes - oy! Man, i do not exaggerate, if it were made into a movie, people would not believe it, even today, and probably even if it was told as fantasy fiction. Some of the changes have been good, some have been just things Id rather forget.
