Help: Simple Rules Queries

By russia0, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Hey Guys!

Just started my DH game as a GM a few weeks ago and have come across a few simple (hopefully) rules queries that I'm sure there is an easy answer to. I hope these don't seem to n00bish, I'd really like a clear answer and a page reference is possible.

Q: I'm aware that you subtract the TB and AP from damage taken (relative to Pen and Location) but do you do so for every hit? For example a single shot is clear, but do you subtract one or both stats from multiple hits (semi-auto, full-auto, dual shot, swift strike)?

Q: The rules state that when dealing unarmed damage it also causes 1 level of fatigue, is this to the strike or the victim? The victim seems obivous but I have one player in particular that would like some other opinions.

Q: Do all actions required a ballistic skill test count as a standard attack, for example luminen blast?

Q: Is an auto-pistol firing at full auto at point blank really that awesome!?! The +50 from point blank and full auto combined with an extra hit for every degree has just made mince meat of stuff!

Help appreciated guys!

You subtract both stats for every single bullet or hit with the exception of dual shot/dual strike, where armour is subtracted twice but toughness only once for both hits. There's a clarification in the errata that can be found on the support page for dark heresy.

Q: The rules state that when dealing unarmed damage it also causes 1 level of fatigue, is this to the strike or the victim? The victim seems obivous but I have one player in particular that would like some other opinions.

The errata says: The Unarmed Combat section on page 197 should
have the line “In addition, a successful hit also causes one
level of Fatigue” changed to: “In addition, a successful hit
that causes damage equal to or greater than the target’s
Toughness Bonus also causes one level of Fatigue.”

Q: Do all actions required a ballistic skill test count as a standard attack, for example luminen blast?

No idea actually, I'd rule yes but that's just me.

Q: Is an auto-pistol firing at full auto at point blank really that awesome!?! The +50 from point blank and full auto combined with an extra hit for every degree has just made mince meat of stuff

Yes.

Yes, you subtract it from every hit. Except for additional hits incurred by Righteous Fury.

Well, that's sort of the point with using unarmed attacks. They do little harmful damage, but you kan knock people out by them taking too much fatigue from the blows. So yes it is the victim that has to suffer fatigue.

Not sure, I think luminen blast in particular has been mentioned in the errata. Be sure to go over the latest errata to clarify everything.

Yes, it is. But remember to subtract armour and toughness bonus from every hit.

In fact, you do not for dual shot and dual strike as I pointed out above. It's in the errata.

As for luminem blast, i've re-read the errata and it does indeed state that it counts as a standard attack action.

Pumping someone full of lead at minimum range does tend to have some unfortunate consequences for the victim, yes.

...as long as you're up against something without armour and toughness out its arse, that is...

Thanks for the speedy reply guys, much appreciated. Most of the stuff works how we've been playing it so far, and I'll be sure to go over the errata a little more carefully.
