So ive been doing some thinking into names for ships in RT. and i figured i would place a few of the ones i came up with (some from a BFG ship name generator) for others to use. I also figured maybe others would see this and post there own.

Not REALLY on topic, as we're talking Rogue Trader ship names, but what acronym (if any) goes at the start of Imperial Naval vessels?

Royal Navy ships begin with HMS, US navy ships begin with USS...what do Imperial Navy ships begin with, if anything?

I think for the first game i'll take the Knight of Koronus.

I've always liked the ship names from the culture novels.

There are quite a few ship name generators out that you could use if you need one in a hurry.

With my DH game the Acolytes warp ship (The Acolytes cleansed it of a lesser Demoniac so they got to keep it.) It was named 'The Murderous Truth'. You can guess as to the audience it normally received when it entered a system.

I just thought of one I may use for my Trader's ship: Destiny's Garters.

Branched off of the more serious "Manifest Destiny."

The game I ran at GenCon had people crewing the Death from Afar *, and later they boarded and took a ship they renamed as the Cunning Acquisition. (It was cunning because of the ensuing triple cross.)

Some pirate ships :

The Shadow of Hate**, the Koronus Claw, the Voidhunger, Howl from the Deep, Unrepentant***, Giantkiller****, Boundless Dominator, and Plaintive Judas****.

The footnotes are to describe how the ships' custom design influenced naming.

*A scout frigate designed for extended travel

**A super fast ship with long range guns that was designed with elusive hit and run tactics in mind

***A Xenotech ship with a blasphemous machine spirit and a temple to Emperor

****A small ship whose Machine Spirit had the Martial Hubris trait, and could seriously damage cruisers.

*****A transport with the ability to disguise its weapon systems, which would lie in wait and pretend to be in distress.
