Motley and Compelled by the Rock

By lars16, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

feel free to yell at me if this has been asked already (i'm 85% sure it hasn't and even with site search there are still a lot of threads w/ motley in it).

A) Can Compelled be used to move the motley to one of the motley owner's characters?

B) If so, the owner would only need one gold and would constantly pay themselves that one gold over and over?

Should look for Compelled by the Rock. The main part of your question is answered under the event on tzu's site.

Yes. The control change and the move happen at exactly the same time, so the "attach to an opponent's character" restriction is met and the attachment stays in play. If not for the control change, the move would be allowed, but the attachment would be immediately discarded.

You really did just gloss over the control change, didn't you? The same control change that lets you move the attachment (and keep in in play) changes the "you" that the gold is paid to. Remember, card text is always read from the point of view of the controller unless otherwise specified. The Baratheon player would have to pay the Lannister player, not himself.

thanks. i looked at headlines on tzu's and only saw in the name of the king (same principal different words) and didn't read it.

I have a newbie question about the Motley card. A friend and I played our first game last night trying to learn the rules and all. He placed the Motley card on one of my characters. How long does the Motley card stay in play? For one round than it's discarded? The entire game? Until the character it is being used on is discarded or killed?

Attachments stay in play until discarded by other effect (e. g. Maester Cressen). If character is killed or discarded or taken to hand, his attachments are discarded.

that one, unless removed via an effect. as the almost simultaneous post above me said.
