If first player got explored marker, but didn't close gate can second player get to him and trade before he get's sucked into portal or is sucking in instantaneous? (Technically Ash from "Evil dead 2" held for 5 mins without being sucked into portal )

you only get drawn through the gate in Arkham encounters phase so yes they can trade.
