The Hellboy Assassin

By ThenDoctor, in Dark Heresy

If anyone's seen the first Hellboy movie then they know the robotic Hitler assassin. I want to make one, i thought of going two ways a commisar or morait assassin im not going for which is the best killer but i want to get as close to the movie as i can and since morait dont use guns at all and that assassin did i was wondering which one you thought was best. He will have some warp things as well as insanity and corruption bits of fun as well. if hes a guardsman hes going to have the backround that gives him 1d10 insanity points. i just need to choose which.

The character you are talking about is "Von Krönen" and he was a little more then "just an assasine". "Von Krönen" was a descendent of a german noble linage who studied the occult and applied it to himself, turning into this undead clockwork-necro-monster.

I doupt that youcan "re-create" this figre without building some packages on your own, and the end-product would be an outright tech-witch-heresy (mechanical parts infused with the dark powers of the things from beyound).

I would assume that the movie figure would have had the equivalent of "from beyound", "machine"-trait and a lot of hitpoints. And something that keeps him from getting critical damage....

Hard to balance into a game character, me thinks

I think Kronen could be built as an adversary for the Acolytes. As said above, he is more some variation of Tech-Witch Servitor then a normal assassin.

Id say he would definately have from beyond, Machine (2), possibly Unnatural Toughness, a crap load of wounds and strange physiology. He wouldnt bleed or circulate blood the same and therefore probably immune to poisons and the toxic effect of weapons.

And after that you just add on his kick ass assassin skills.

Definately not a PC unless The Radicals Handbook opens up some new paths.

I think I just rolled up that kind of assassin yesterday. It was a new PC that started out with 1250 xp (in order to catch up with the other players since my original character died). So I made a Mind Cleansed Assassin that had the Cybernettic Resurrection elite advance (the one for 500 xp not the 200 one).

Knowing how the many factions within the Adeptus Mechanicus jealously guard their secrets I would say that there is no way that they have a "standard" procedure for cybernettic resurrection. It can be through cloning, brain-transplants into a servitor body and perhaps even more esoteric forms of revival, like inserting a persons mind into an "undead" clockwork cyborg like Kroenen from Hellboy.

Either use that, or perhaps look up the Anima Chorus in Disciples of the Dark Gods...

Hi peacekeeper. I would have applied strange physiology as well. but one things keeps me from it:

If I read the rules correct, a figure with this trait dies if the wounds are ZERO

A figure without that tries has a chance of to die after wounds are ZERO (critical hit).

..doesn´t that mean a figure with the trait will die earlier? Making it a malus as long as it comes to "hit points"?

Yup, that's exactly what it means. In reality though, most Strange Physiology guys have around 6 wounds more than their natural counterparts, meaning they die at the same time, only without the debilitating critical effects before that.

Otherwise, I could imagine Von Krönen as a tech-assassin of the Ad-Mech or the Logicians, or possibly a new project of the Assassinorum.

He wasnt going to be just a "normal" assassin he was going to be a rank 8 assassin or rank 8 guardsmen/holy comminsar/ crazy ass i just cant decide which. Kronun did use a gun and Morait cant stand the **** things...maybe ill just make a trait that he can use it...

One thing that isn´t quiet clear to me: do want to use this one as an SC or NSC?

He's going to be my main villain's assassin/ bodygaurd hence the choice

Ah! I always thought you would like to build YOUR SC like that.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

"Strange Physiologie" and a lot of hitpoints should do the trick. In addition to any other thing you would like to beef him up with. High Dexterity and the Talent that allows you to deflect incoming missle attacks should be part of the concept.

Talking "background", I wouldn´t even go so far to "trim" him into the product of a certain assasine school. How about a renegade assasine of from Malfi ? The planet thems to be famed for bloody vendettas, the noble houses have caderes of silent killers and even "assasine guilds" have been mentioned (if I remember correctly)

His constant search for another way to improve his abilites (and stay "ontop & alive") could have let to his actual "condition". Perhaps looked for cybernetics but ended up in the hand of a tech-witch. He died will... but after a while he had to flee after his "condition" became obvious with the wrong persons.

Since he is not a "cult assasine" but a "pro", he would not have any disdains for any type of weapon but sport a "using the right tool for the job" attitude. Of course he still can be as deeply in love with his "work" as you deem fit.

Since contact to the warp beggets mutation, how about replacing his entrails not with sand (forma blood) but with hundred of little roaches? I think there a matching "major mutations". If not, the "daemon host" should have something. And one "nap" might not be wrong to embody the dark and sinister powers of original "Von Krönen".

In order to keep him from "just being a combat monster", add some items from his forma life to him. Perhaps the armoured body suit he wears has some ornamentation one associates with some artistic style popular on Malfi. Or he carries a lot of weapons from the Belasco Deathworks (was Malfi, wasn´t it?).

A greatcoat and a large cowl should help to disguise him on the streets...along with his weapons..

Very interesting indeed.

Seeing as the character is/was obviously a product of occult practices you could very well go the Dark Pact route. Personally I alway view Khorne as having a big association with machines (seeing as how he disdains magic itself) so let's say your assassin makes a bargin with a Khornite Daemon (or a Tech-Witch with Khornite leanings) and has his body "upgraded" with warp tainted machines horribly disfiguring his body underneath his new metal skin but raising his abilities well above his peers

yes i was going to have his main weapons be lathe blades hidden in the robotic arms
