Dominting the mimic

By Triakor, in Talisman Rules Questions

So if you dominate him with the spell. He matches his oppenents strength.

So if you take him and say fight the lord of darkness does he add +12 to your strength?

I would say: why not?

Dominate is a single card in the entire Spell deck. It might happen that you find some Enemy to enslave that's far more useful than the others. Mimic is one of them, but in the Dungeon Deck there are also 2 Battle Hulks. A +10 is not bad either.

If you kill the Mimic you gain 1 Strength right the way, so it's your choice to Dominate him or try to kill him by rolling a higher score.

I have a question which might have been answered by some previous FAQ, but I forgot: Dominate Spell and Staff of Mastery should be treated exactly the same way? Staff of Mastery says that "you choose when" to use the enslaved Enemy, Dominate says that he adds his Strength to yours "during your next battle". Wording is different, but if I recall correctly someone (talismanamsilat?) stated that you choose when to get the aid of a Dominated Enemy in battle. Otherwise it will be less useful.

Just seems stacked to go against the Lord of Darkness with an enslaved mimic. My friends and I thought that was how it worked but weren't sure. And ya in the entire deck you need the one spell and one mimic to do it. So I guess its not too bad.

That would mean that you have a high chance to land on the crown if you stand on the treasure chamber and you use the battle hulk or mimic in battle with the LOD.
