With the Midnight expansion now out of print, I thought that it was a real pity that all those Midnight heroes will go to waste fore anyone who hasn't already purchased it. It would be nice if a "heroes" expansion could be released, with all 8 Midnight heroes and maybe a few more...perhaps the 6 Descent heroes that Warbringer made custom cards for. I doubt if this would be too much of a risk for FFG since the heroes would be usable with any Runebound game and the figures already exist. I don't think Midnight sold all that well either so there are probably quite a few Runebounders out there who would chomp at the bit for a chance to get these. Comments?

I feel your pain! I have a copy of Midnight but if I didn't I would be very upset if I couldn't get any content that was once out there.
If FFG is done with Midnight (I think it's pretty good!) they should release the Midnight components for people to pick-up.
'Cause you're right... it would be a pitty.
I wish they would reprint it for the fans that got into Runebound not too long ago (like me!)

I can sympathize with your attitude, but making the components available for purchase sort of defeats the purpose of putting it out of print. The whole reason they stopped printing the expansion in the first place is to save the cost of making the components, presumably because they weren't selling well enough. =P
If there were enough people out there willing to drop cash on these pieces, then the expansion would've sold better and would probably still be in print.

I agree. I'm sure it wasn't selling well enough. But that doesn't mean people wouldn't want just the Heroes from Midnight. They could take out the good and put in into a small expansion or upgrade pack. That being said I doubt FFG would do it... which is why there is all this 'pitty' talk
If FFG ever released a 3rd Edition of Runebound I bet then we would see these Hero's again.
I just got a great deal on ebay for Midnight (delivered today),so I can't wait to play. The figs are very well done & easily could be used in RB,+ it gives you a DWARF ,which of course is the Gold Standard in Adventure Games

Sorry but I would prefer an infinite series of expansions... I would be less frustrating.

If the game sells well, a third edition is only a matter of time. If it doesn't sell well, the expansions will eventually trickle to a halt and the game will be done. (note that I am not joining the doom and gloom bandwagon about Runewars killing Runebound, I'm just saying it will happen eventually.) This is the reality of any product line, really, in any entertainment field.
That said, the third edition of RB would need to have some substantial upgrades to make me consider buying it. 2e is a solid outing and the rules are mostly very tight, so I don't think there's too much room for improvement. I might not buy the core 3e, but I would probably continue buying 3e expansions and modifying them to 2e rules. I don't imagine that would be too difficult.
