Earth go Smashy, Smashy... I think?

By Navitude, in UFS Deck Building

Hey All!

I played *Seth* back before Cutting Edge and Domination where released and the deck played really well. I swapped out to play *Ibuki* for a while and since then I never revisited Earth. Well now I am back, however I am pretty clueless on what to do. Earth has changed so much and well I don't know how it plays and I really don't know what character to choose from. So I am calling out to all other Earth fanatics for some help! Anything to share to help me build a new deck. I was looking at the Hutz** lock down, but it just doesn't sit well with me.

First off - I hate *Seth*. Had to bring that one across and always will when it comes to that character card.

Anyways, Earth is pretty solid at the moment, because Zasalmel's foundation base gives it something a lot of symbols don't have - Response negation. Inhuman Perception is an awesome card, although sometimes costly, can win you games. The same goes for End it All. Jivatma's support from KOF2006 also brings heavy discard to Earth, especially with cards like The Ways of Punishment and The Glare from the Abyss. If you plan to play Jivatma himself, The Stars Aligned is also very useful. Amy's Assistance still provides good old damage reduction, something Earth has always had, and Yuri and Maxima's support provides more than enough life gain to stay alive.

If you're playing Block 2, The Hammer is still as reliable as ever, but not as widely used thanks to the strong attacks like Divine Folly and High Plasma Beam, both of which fall short of the 4 printed damage requirement. The Way of the Mightiest also doesn't see as much play as it used to, because players prefer the control approach with Program Malfunction. Awakening also sees play, as it helps alongside the other discard abiities. Moon Saul Slayer sees even more play than ever because people like the turn 1 attack of Dancing Battle Kabuki - MSS. The new Promo Zangief also makes MSS awesome, as he pumps the attack and it's multiples to 10 damage each!

Another character that shines it huge light on Earth is ::Sagat:: . Though his character isn't as reliable as seems (I have and am still trying to make him awesome), his support is more than playable. Blinding Rage keeps the Olcadan's away, Clean Rematch, though underlooked, is a great card for searching the foundations you need, and most of all Tiger Fury is Earth's best kill card, especially late game.

As for characters themselves, I already mentioned Jivatma. Huitzil is a tank with his 37 life, especially combined with a ton of damage redux and life gain. His action, Genocide, is an underlooked card too, and IMO is the new Absurd Strength (unlike Punish the Weak, which lacks the stats to be as good). Maxima is also one who just doesn't die, but lacks any real form of doing damage.

Hope that all helped for ya!

Dont forget the promo that can make any action card amazing just because it saves em for later Luna's Encouragement especially for block 2 with all the action card/cards (cough...hammer) to be saved for later

I literally built an Earth E. Honda deck the other week by taking a pile of cheap foundations (Maxima's 0/5 and 1/5 foundations, Battle Prowess, Dancing Battle Kabuki, Glare from the Abyss, Personal Style, End it All, The Curse Broken, The Silent Soldier), adding a pile of stronger 2-diffs ( Cutting Edge , Vanity, Amy's, Awakening, Ways of Punishment) and a few silver bullets (4x Mortal Strike [initially 5x because I miscounted, thank god for long casual games >_>] and 1x Armored Defense that won me a match on its own), plus High Plasma Beam and A Powerful Offer [never play it as a foundation]. I lost only one game on the night against a Death Zi Mei - my point? Earth has enough redux and counter-control that you can really just throw grey cards in a pile, shuffle the pile, and stall games for a very long time -- long enough to set up a win condition almost every time [aforementioned Zi Mei deck has something like 30 attacks and I didn't run Tag Along IIRC -- but we went to time on game 3. :) ]

There was a big thread when the forums were just starting up in General Discussion about the Earth symbol - go find it if you want some more specific direction. It was the impetuous for me to build the Honda deck and I took much of my strategy from there :P

the zangief's and javatima are probably the best earth has to offer.

go with astroth he go smashy smashy for sure. injoy him will you can in apral he rotats tear drop.

i was thinking block 3.
