Princes of the Sun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By lars16, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

haven't read whole thing yet, but lookie at this (it jumped off the page at me)

"Containing 120 cards (two copies each of 60 different cards) and retailing at $24.95"

~who wants to ***** that now when you buy 2 you get an unneeded 4th set of each card? :P

Like this too:

"Fantasy Flight Games presents the gorgeous “Viper’s Bite” House card. Draw attention to your AGoT LCG Martell deck with this gorgeously sculpted 3D resin House card, available separately as a stand-alone accessory for $14.95."

And the cards are solid to interesting. I really like the Red Viper, almost immune to lanni kneel, hard to kill, bonus when out boarded, and renown....yes please.

They really do listen! That kind of customer responsiveness is fabulous.

House Dayne Reserves is pretty cool. A clever take on the revenge mechanic.

Ok, so me and Kennon go in together to buy 3 of these box sets. We each get a complete playset (3x) of each card. We spent a total of $75, which my half would be $37.50. If I'm so inclined I buy a fancy house card for another $15. So in total I spend $52.50. I get 180 total cards and my fancy house card. Yeah, I definitely think everyone should be happy. FFG obviously listened, and if you are planning on getting a full playset of PotS expansion, it will cost you slightly more than half of what you paid for the KotS. I realize people are/were upset about the KotS expansion, but we can't change the past. I'm quite pleased that FFG made the appropriate changes.

I thought that would be the Viper they'd choose. Was really between him and 5KE, I think, but I'm happy they chose that one. That army is BURLY (str 6 tricon!?)...that and Norvos make me never want to initiate an Intrigue challenge against a Martell opponent.

The resin housecard is also pretty awesome looking.

the more i think about it the more i'm liking Dorne.....some interesting trait synergy already (maester, knight, house dayne) and i'm sure there will be more in the box.

Yeah...at first flush you'd think "cost 3 blech," but Martell can have some good trait synergy. Maybe Sand Snakes, plus Kingsguard could be good too.

Geez, you're stealing my joke (painfully obvious as it is) before I can make it. lengua.gif

Um, wow, I'm very impressed with what FFG has done in response to complaints about the Greyjoy expansion. This goes well beyond what I would have wagered on (I was figuring multiple copies of the resource cards and perhaps a $5 price break vs. the Greyjoy expansion). Kudos and thanks to Christian Petersen and the whole FFG team.

Wow, this almost falls into the "too good to be true" category.

And the separate packaging on the House Card? Fantastic.

What a great customer responsivness. I will buy three products that´s for sure. ~And no resin house card by the way. ;-)

About the card spoilers. Dorne looks great, 3 gold is of course always an big investment, but ROI could be in a single marshalling phase. Besides that it encourages theem decks which i think is great. The card could probably also highlight some neutral deck builds like knights (and/or kingsguards) and for classic nightwatch, wildlings, Arryn ( the Arryn vale pact allows to play all Arryn charahcters for -1 !).

A full playset of House Dayne reserves are probably the best medicine against intrigue challenges. :-)

And i never ever thought that a non-kneeling or standing Viper would be part of LCG format again after the release of Loast Oasis. Vigilant Dornishman (thorns) and Lost Oasis were great, the Red Viper and Lost Oasis is outstanding!

Incredible! Great response from FFG and should answer all the criticisms of Kings of the Sea (which by the way, my FLGS CANNOT keep in sotck. I still haven't been able to pick up a copy).

Martell players hsould be thrilled to get that Vipe back. He gives me nightmares - I had many, many problems trying to deal wiht him back in the day, and distinctly recall my only two losses at the 2005 NE Regional were to this card (primarily).

Stag, our store is the same way here. They have received two shipments from their supplier, and can't keep them in. Of course, the supplier has run out, and now the store is waiting for them to have more.

As for the Viper, I have four words: Milk of the Poppy . I used to never play cards like this, but with the Castellan and new Super Eddard causing all sorts of problems in games I've seen it popping up in many decks, including my own.

Oh my yes, a huge thumbs up to FFG. It looks like this really addresses the issues brought up by most every player. I'm highly looking forward to this release. Easier for me to get the cards I need, and I'll only need to purchase one of the Martell housecard (which looks incredibly slick, btw).

Also, it looks like FFG is continuing with some sweet expansion cards. My favorite Red Viper is making a return as well as a very, very cool army and a huge nod to theme decks. I'm very very eager to know more.

Now, this time I can seriously say: PERFECT! Good job FFG!

I love the idea of "House Dayne Reserves".

Yes, this sounds really really exciting ! Beyond my expectations actually. Thanks a lot to all FFG crew for having so rightfully responded to the player complaints. aplauso.gif

And about Dorne, didn't anybody notice it will reduce cost not only for characters but for any card ! So locations (Kingdom, King's Landing, Westeros...) and attachments (Weapon, Item, Condition (hello free Milk of the Poppy...). demonio.gif

Oh - i totally agree. Milk has been huge in NY since it was reprinted and from the holidays last year through the Moot last month, i doubt a game has gone by where I didn't see between 1-3 Milks played. The thing was, when VED Viper was first prevalent, Milk had rotated. teh primary text blanking card of choice was Tourney Magistrate, who the Viper just shrugged off. Things will be different this time around.

People weren't using Banished instead of Milk?

Exactly my thought. Also their was ward for house stark, Taken hostage for Lannister, Attainted/Imprisoned/Condemned for Martell, Swayed by the light for Baratheon, just to name a few other very potent cards available at that time.

It's gonna be hard not to preorder 3 of those boxes. Already have 2 diffrent martell decks so wouldn't mind having 2 playsets.

The House card is also very nice. The greyjoy one didn't appeal to me but the martell one is piece of art!

Thanks FFG for the changes, ( now I can justify to myself for buying another greyjoy set :) )

Well, and to be absolutely honest, for a good chunk of when this Viper was originally legal, it was ignored in favor of buzzsaw Viper (ACoS) around here....

Absolutely certain. ACoS Viper was THE VIPER you would choose to play that time in almost every meta. I think only WED Viper was nearly as popular as the ACoS Viper.

Wow, cheaper than KotS and with more cards -- awesome! The fact that buying two sets gives you a playset +1 but buying three sets gives you two full playsets is a really good incentive to try to split three boxes with a friend. Hopefully that will lead to even more sales -- I know I'll be trying to pull a friend in for a split on this.

I will probably get myself two playsets of it on my own. Martell is my prime house nd Greyjoy is my secondary. These expansions make me incredibly happy and will finanlly put me back in familiar territory regarding play styles.

any chance that FFG will, on the next run of the KotS, do it like this instead? I would love them forever and a day...

Awesome though, that they listened and delivered. I will definitely coordinate with people in NYC to buy 3 copies and then split it in two. Very good job!

Very pleased! The pricing and amount of cards you get look very nice (me and a friend could go in on getting 3 and actually have full playsets for both of us - which is as close to ideal as it'll likely get).

The only thing better would be a second run of Kings of the Sea that had the same structure, but that's unlikely :)
