Endevours in Dark Heresy

I have just listened to the D6 Generation interview with Ross Watson, and the endevour system seems pretty interesting. Now I know that it is designed for Rogue Trader, but I think it might actually be a good mechanic to set up the players inquisitor and his focus. (Of course this is without actually seeing the rules.)

An Inquisitor's funding has to come from somewhere. I definitely think there's potential to import the mechanic to DH, especially once Ascension comes out. Obtaining funds and supplies, currying favour with the various Adeptus, forging alliances or thwarting rivals within the Inqusition, all could be set up as endevours I expect.

If anyone's read Cain's Last Stand there's a joint Mechanicus-Inquisition venture dedicated to the study of a particular collection of certain xenos artifacts. Also, the Coblast Assay as mentioned in Edge of Darkness is said to really be an Inquisition front. Now those sound like ventures to me, even if their goals are a little different from only profit.

And some Inquisitors have their own private armies and bases so endeavors would be perfect to represent those. Who doesn't want a secret moonbase to interrogate people, lock up potentially valuable suspects, and keep some of your stuff?

My a-number-one plan for RT when it gets here is to look into porting the Profit mechanic over to DH once I see fully how it works. Of course, I'd call it Resources instead of profit (there's a lot in a name after all ;-) ). So far, I'm thinking it would be a good tool to use to evaluate what the Acolytes can get from their inquisitor -the more resources they give him, the more he'll give them access to sort of a set up. I can also see it as a nice gage of how well they preformed a mission as well as giving them extra incentive to sniff out heresy on their own for brownie-points... or just as an excuse to sieze that nobles mansion so they could get a better operating budget for the real problem they've been handed.
