Please fix Leon! (Set 4)

By Spirit of Xehanort, in Rules Discussions

This is how the card reads:

[When this card participates in a challenge, you may choose a "Hollow Bastion" card from your discard pile and put it in your hand.]

Now when I read this card for the first time, I believed what others did most likely; that this allows you to search your discard for Hollow Bastion "themed" cards. For those unfamiliar, that means cards that read Hollow Bastion next to the card name. This would have Leon make ALOT more sense and have him be much more playable.

But from what I understand, they have ruled that Leon's text allows him to only search for Hollow Bastion world cards. Please fix this ruling, and allow him to search for Hollow Bastion themed cards instead. It isn't like it's a broken effect either. And even if you were to use the current ruling to help a World Racer deck, why on earth would a WR want to enter a challenge? Again, it doesn't make sense. The text should be taken as I first described.

Please fix this card, for Leon's sake.

Hello sir. Marketing Director for Kingdom Hearts, Jaffer Batica, had bestowed upon me and a few other members the ability to make rulings in lue of FFG not being able to. That being said, I think it's safe to say that absolutely NO ONE agrees with the current ruling on Leon and other cards like him, not only that, but as you stated, it just doesn't make sense and goes against what I believe the card was originally meant to do.

So, I'm officially making the ruling that cards like Leon, Pegasus, and Wishing Lamp WILL work how we all agree they should. Any other rules questions feel free to ask.

Thanks. ^_^

You are my new hero Mr. Dawn. lol

Now also to add to this, does that mean Leon and get the new Merlin cause if I remember the world icon had Hollow Bastion but the name said Traverse Town lol. So are we saying he's Hollow Bastion? And I just want to make sure lol

Yes, because he was based in Hollow Bastion and he has the emblem for Hollow Bastion.

That's a definite "maybe" the whole reason the word is there is to identify the world. If we want to go from a video game standpoint, Merlin wasn't a Hollow Bastion character, was he? I thought he was TT...

He was in Hollow Bastion during the second game, if he doesn't count as Hollow Bastion wouldn't Leon and Yuffie have counted as Traverse Town since that's where they started in the game? Either way i'll run it to Jaffer, but it seems weird that it would be since there aren't any other Traverse Town cards.

eh, I'd say it HB then..

It's Hollow Bastion, the symbol is Hollow Bastion...seems like putting Traverse Town there is a misprint, wouldn't be the first time.

Heaven forbid, Fantasy Flight MISPRINT somethin??

....

....

....NEVAH!! That could NEVER happen, EVER!

*coff*

LMFAO At least we know there human lol! It will be the sign of the apocalypse when we see a full set without one misprint lol!

Did Set 1 or 2 have misprints?

Not that I recall actually. I think I can safely say for sure Set 1 didn't...it was too small not to.

Yea lol but that doesnt count cause its the starting set and they have to make it look good lmao, but everything went a little "Wha?" when Set 2 came out with the whole discarding from your friend area effects and stuff lol
