Explanation/Clarification

By kagemushaclan, in X-Wing Rules Questions

1. Target Lock: Is it considered an action to move a target lock from one ship to a different ship?

2. K4 Security Droid: "After executing a green maneuver, you may acquire a target lock."

If you have a target lock on a ship, can you move it to a different ship with this card and still have use of your action bar to assign a focus/evade?

3. Push the Limit: If I use a focus/evade token, can I assign a second token of the same action? Example: I assign an evade, trigger PtL and assign another evade and then the stress.

Thanks for the help!

Although many actions assign tokens to your ship, they are not the same thing.

To change your TL from one ship to another you have to somehow be allowed to aquire a TL, either from the TL action or from another source. If it comes from the TL action, you can only perform that action once a round, but you can still acquire a TL by other means.

So, question 1 doesn't HAVE to be an action, but it frequently is

Question 2, the droid's text doesn't say you are performing an action, so you aren't performing an action when you use it.

Question 3, you can have multiple focus or evade tokens assigned to your ship, but you can only perform those actions once each round. You cannot focus as your action and the push the limit to focus again, but you can focus as your action and then be assigned a focus token by some other means (Kyle katarn, for instance).

I Hope that helps (and that it hadn't been ninja'd).

3.no, you can only do each action once per round.

Sure about the "1.yes"?

If you use another way for acquire a target lock (for example said K4) it is not an action.

And acquiring a target lock on another target is only an action if you use the action for it.

1) no

Assigning a token (in this case, TL) is not an action.

Some actions (like the TL action) allow you to assign a token.

After you maneuver, K4 allows you to acquire a TL. After that, you perform an action during the "perform action" step. You can choose to perform a TL action, although other actions are probably a better idea.

1. Too complex for a simple answer. It is NOT always an Action to move a TL from one ship to another but you need to be able to assign a TL to do so. The most basic way of assigning a TL is to use the Action but there are many other things in the game that allow TL assignment that do not require actions.
