Starkiller

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

You say 'balanced' when talking about Starkiller? Starkiller is in no way balanced. How would you balance him in this game without ruining his whole character? The only memorable thing about him is how overpowered he was.

And again, you're pretty much telling people that if Starkiller is added into an expansion that they should just skip that expansion and any future expansions involving Starkiller... or suck it up and use a character they don't like for the missions that force you to use Starkiller.

Starkiller getting balanced for this game would suck. Just like Luke getting balanced for this game sucked. But it would still be fun to me to have him in the game.

And I am telling you that you will have to suck it up and play on because I can guarantee that an expansion or character not everybody likes is going to be added to the game eventually. This is disney after all. By wave 5 iornman will be in the game :)

Luke didn't need much changing because the Luke we have is pre-episode 5 Luke. Even episode 6 Luke wouldn't be as powerful as Starkiller was who was around even before episode 4. (Imagine how powerful that guy is by now.) Episode 6 Luke is still possible and I am almost certain we'll see him in the game in an expansion. Heck, he'll probably be a copy of Vader except use white/black defense die instead of black/black.

Man I hope so! Cried a little when I saw his figure didn't have a lightsabre.

Maybe once they start doing more stuff with Time Lines we might see a Jedi Knight/Master Luke Skywalker ally pack. That's my thought anyway. For now I imagine they'll stick with the OT and whatever Force Awakens stuff they end up putting out in their various SW lines.

So I am going to post a non crazy persons point of view. Starkiller was fun, his insane over the top force powers made the force unleashed fun. As a lifelong fan of the starwars universe and a current fan of imperial assault I see no reason for them to not add any character that will add depth and fun to the game. Hell they could even add Gungans! I wouldn't use them and I would make fun of anyone who did but if it's fun for someone go for it.

So you're basically saying, "Add anything/everything, you don't need to use them."

1. With your logic, we SHOULD put in AT-ATs. Don't like them? Don't use them! While we're at it, lets put in starfighters, Yuuzhan Vong, World Devastators, Sun Crusher, Eclipse I and II, and the planet/moon that crushed Chewbacca. Don't like any of them? That's fine, don't use them!

2. Except you DO need to use figures in certain missions, every villian/ally is currently used in atleast 1 side mission/story mission. Guess what happens if they add Starkiller to an expansion? The imperial player will be forced to use him in some of those missions or just not play that expansion's missions (and possibly any other future expansions' missions that involve him.)

As long as it is balanced with the rest of the game sure. My point was more that this game isn't for any one person. This game is going to expand and grow and things are going to get added that some people don't like but others do and it will be ok.

I see Patrick is still being as condescending and shutting down anyone else's opinion. Glad he's blocked, sad that I can still see his quoted text. Zarkil brings up a good points, characters get watered down and added, things you don't like will be in the game why not let someone else enjoy a character they like than constantly bring them down?

How about you bring up good arguments to include Starkiller into the game instead of taking personal attacks against me?

What we have is a difference of priorities. I didn't want episode 5 luke, I wanted a luke that was an equal to vader. I don't care that those two characters didn't exist at the same time, what I care about is that it would be more fun for me that way. And while I think it would be fun to have starkiller in the game I wouldn't want him to be as powerful as luke or vader. It's fun vs lore and I am on the side of fun but I bet the game takes a middle ground so none of us will get what we want :)

I would much, much rather have Rahm Kota in the game. Like, much, much, much rather.

And a few more muches.

Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much.

I'd like to see Starkiller in IA. I definitely like the idea of him having separate Deployment Cards for both Imperial and Rebel use.

His unique command card could be Force Repulse (2 actions: Roll 2 Red dice. Deal that much damage to each character within 4 spaces and push them 4 squares).

Why not just "Defeat all characters on the board."

Starkiller is the most OP person in Star Wars and is only popular among those who don't know what the word 'balance' means.

I know what Balance means and he is popular with me. You can like something that isn't balanced, for entertainment value. Sam Witwer is awesome and gave a fantastic performance in that game.

Just remember that he was also in Soul Calibur, so washing down his abilities to fit into something else that wouldn't be concidered Over-Powered is always possible, and acceptable for the character in question. I'm pretty certain if he wasn't washed down for Soul Calibur, the ability to drop a Star Destroyer on someone might have made him the most played character of that game. Heh!

Excellent idea. He was awesome in TFU - but that game was all about being OP. The character himself could be tweaked to fit into most other games if desired. Make him less powerful than Vader, but more powerful than the starter version of Luke.

Starkiller is the perfect example of a Mary Sue character. He's this random, out of nowhere character that isn't referenced or appears in anything besides the comic, novel, and video games of Force Unleashed 1 and 2. That already shows you how unpopular of a character he is amongst the myriad of EU writers (people much more devoted and credible than random fanboys), whereas characters like Mara Jade and Thrawn are in many books, comics, and video games.

I think it has a LITTLE something to do with the fact that TFU 1 and 2 came out close to 20 years AFTER the thrawn trilogy? You've got plenty of time for books and things to come out in that window, where Starkiller didn't even exist yet.
