Shooting Doors?

By K3rmit, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hi, I have a question about attacking doors. I know the ruling:

RRG p8 Attacking Objects:

When attacking a door, ..., the door is considered to be occupying each space with which it shares an edge.

And:

The spaces that share an edge with the door are the only spaces that are considered to be adjacent...

So for a melee attack (without reach) the nexu is blocking an attack against the door, since you must be on a space which is occupied by the nexu.

But whats about a ranged attack? Can here Mak shoot at the door, by drawing LOS as drawn in yellow on the picture, since the door is considered to be occupying that space?

Absolutely. He can shoot the hell out of that door!

As long as you can attack it, which as long as you have the accuracy for the attack, and you have LOS ( which he has because figures don't block los for him), you hit the door, or rather, attack it since it will likely have a defence die.

Actually - he cannot. The rule that the OP posted has been revised in the newest FAQ. Here it is:

"When attacking a door, using an ability that affects a door, or counting spaces to a door, the door is considered to be occupying each empty space with which it shares an edge."

There are no empty spaces that share an edge. Nexu is blocking LOS, so Mak cannot fire on the door.

great, thank you and now see what has been changed in this particular rule. Small word but big outcome ;) .
