Kath's RAC

By Deltmi, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I put this build together after wave 6 came out, but finally flew it for the first time yesterday. And it did everything I thought it would do! I think it's a pretty good counter for dual IG and Soontir/Decimator builds (which is where I see the meta shifting towards). Let me know what you think.

Kath Scarlet

- Calculation

- Recon Specialist

- Mangler Cannon

Rear Admiral Chiraneau

- VI

- Rebel Captive

- Ysanne Isard

Obviously you could tweak it here and there, but the main thing is putting a lot of stress on your opponent. Kath's ability is crazy good with mangler cannon, and everyone always forgets about rebel captive.

I like he idea. Tell us how it works. If kath imperial is worth it.

I played against a Rexler mini-swarm, and at one point, my opponent's fleet all had multiple stress tokens. This build is particularly strong in giving stress because the stress stack. Mangler cannon fits perfectly into Kath's ability because it changes a hit into a crit. And against high agility ships, they will most likely cancel a crit.

If you roll Crit, Focus, Focus, you could spend 1 focus token to change a focus to a Hit, use Calculation to spend the other focus token to change a focus to a Crit, then use Mangler's ability to change the focus'd Hit to a Crit. So you end up with 3 Crits!

I don't get the title.

I guess you don't have my perverted mind.

If I'm wrong forgive me, but I thought you could only modify a die once per attack? Can you really use a token to focus a die to a hit and then Mangler to change THAT die into a crit? If so that's awesome and I'm using it immediately.

You can only re-roll dice once, but you can modify the same dice multiple times.

Modifying Dice Results:

When players roll dice during combat, these dice are rolled into a common area. The faceup side of each die is considered its result. Dice in this common area may be modified in a variety of ways, and their final results determine how much damage the target ship suffers (if any).

Add: Some effects add a specific result to the combat. To resolve this, the player places a token or unused die displaying this result into the common area.

Change: Some effects change one die result to a different result. To resolve this, the player physically picks up the die from the common area and rotates the die so that its faceup side displays the new result.

Reroll: Some effects allow players to reroll certain dice. To resolve this, the player picks up the appropriate number of dice from the common area and rolls those dice again. Important: When a die is changed or rerolled, ignore its original result and apply only the new result. This new result may be modified by other effects; however, a die that has already been rerolled cannot be rerolled again during this attack.
