Who is the best?

By FFG Robb, in Battlelore

I hope you have enjoyed my preview articles on BattleLore: Heroes thus far and am eager to hear who the community thinks is the best and why. So if you get a chance, jot down a couple of thoughts and post them here.

I would have to go with the commander. He's definitely got a nice set of skills. My close second would be the wizard; that Lion/Dragon/Horse she's riding looks just plain mean.

Good job guys!

Hi Robb, thanks for dropping by.

I agree the Commander is looking awesome, second place tied between Rogue (just 'cause I like the balance of the skills) and the Warrior for pure lets take out the opponents creature capability.

A couple quick questions for when you're reading through the replies....
Will there be any tidbits on how heroes selection works and how that is affected by Lore council make up (I can see Priest level 3 and Commander hero potentially being very very popular)?
Will there be an equivalent for Heroes as the Hundred Year War expansion version of Lore deck? (if not theres my next homebrew project)

Chris

So far the warrior and then commander has got my interest, but then while I like to play with the lore rules and all, I like my fantasy to be a little less flashy than the wizard seems to be.

I too would really like to hear how these interact with the board and the lore council.

I would have to agree with most everyone here. The commander is the best because of "Call to Arms" (add two dice rolls to attack if there is a friendly unit adjacent to both the commander and the enemy unit being targeted), "Scouting" (allows three cards to be drawn after playing the Scout command card, keep the best card ), and "Lead by Example" (After playing a Scout command card, move up to three contiguous units). "Blademaster" is a nice addition too.

The Commander is the Hero that I look forward to playing the most. I really like how you did a female warrior. I could see her fighting historically on the french side. :)

Don't think any of them have plus or minuses.

Would be curious in regards to the dimensions of the heroes for storage purposes though. So whatever one is the tallest/biggest will suffice for the dimensions.

I would lean toward the commander as well. I like more options when moving my army. I am very disappointed that the rogue and the warrior share so many skills. I had thought there would be no duplicate skills (other than riding). I would rather have seen the warrior have a skill that would make any enemy he is attacking "frightened", or something along those lines rather than multiple skills that add bonuses to melee attacks.

Looking forward to this set. And I really like the preview of the artifacts and all the questions that arise from reading the article!

I do hope you all put the heroes' art up as avatar choices for the game so we can make our favorites even more clear.
