Reprint Legality for GenCon

By Maester_LUke, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I've heard the notion bandied about on here, but is there any conclusive ruling from FFG on whether CCG copies of cards reprinted in the LCG are playable in tournaments (specifically GenCon)?

I didn't see anything in the tourney rules or FAQ, but before I start assembling decks for GenCon, I wanted to be sure I knew the policy.

I've heard of people allowing exact text reprints, to avoid confusion, but should alternate art be acceptable? I came into the game not caring one whit for the art (as part of the play experience), but I've grown to appreciate it, and find differing art more jarring than a transposed comma in the text box. ( realize this is more of an issue for players from the CCG era, than it is for newer ones, but they'll still be confused by cards that have different images... they're just less likely to wonder why Myrcella isn't 3 STR with Stealth.) There's also a question of card stock, as the LCG cards seem to be detactable by flex and/or corner cuts. Are sleeves mandatory in major events?

Thanks in advance, I feel so out of the loop.

As the TO, I will tell you how I will rule - short of a more official announcement from FFG:

> Exact reprints based on card text, stats and characteristics will be acceptable. Modified reprints based on text, stats and characteristics will not be. I will not consider art in these classifications. So your old Iron Islands Fiefdoms are legal, but your 5KE Myrcella is not. I will try pull together the list of "acceptable black border cards" that I will use for deck checks at Gencon in the next week or so and post it.

> Sleeves are not required. Given that there have always been slight differences in cut, cardstock, etc., it seems like overkill to me. That said, if someone seems to be abusing this policy during the game or stacking/seeding their deck (based on cardstock or any other means), it will be treated as any other example of poor sportsmanship or manipulation would be. (i.e., I don't think people are likely to try to abuse the cardstock issue and make a game advantage out of it in this community - but if they do, there is recourse.)

Note that these answers are now official FFG event policy given the information in the new LCG FAQ 1.3.

Do we have list of cards that meet these criteria? ~I assume we use a Brothel that _is_ Unique?
