Rogue Trader Collectors Edition Available for Pre-Order!

By FFG Ross Watson, in Rogue Trader

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce that the new game in the Warhammer 40,000 Rolepla y line, Rogue Trader , will be released in a special limited collector’s edition!

The Rogue Trader Collector’s Edition is a special release packed with extra features that is limited to 1,000 individual copies. The pre-orders that begin today are for the initial 500 available through the FFG website...each of these initial 500 copies are personalized with the name of your specific Rogue Trader!

Each name will be immortalized in hand-written calligraphy onto a Warrant of Trade. In addition, those 500 Rogue Trader names will also be featured on a special list on the Rogue Trader web site.

The Rogue Trader Collector’s Edition is taking pre-orders now and will ship in the fall of 2009.

Looks nice, i just wish i had the spare cash to get one and pay for the shipping to get it here. i guess i'll just have to settle for the standard version.

What the hell, I'll make it back in profit endeavours! happy.gif Ordered!

Is there any way I could possibly enter my Warrant of Trade name after I placed my order? I rushed the order and forgot to add the name in the comments field.

Ouch, $120?

Guess I'll have to wait to see if I can get one from a UK store, since it'd cost about $30-40 to get it delivered here too, and I'm not spending almost £100 on a book :(

Wish it was being sold in the UK, like the DH one...

Ordered it. Yes...Rogue Trader Johan Verdan, will make a killing in the deep dark of space.

Lord Sto Odin awaits his Warrant from the Lords of Terra.

Neat stuff! I can't beleive I ordered it sorpresa.gif

Neither can I, but with a chance of introducing a new character into the lore, I had to order it. Also the lay out itself was great.

Void Lord Dougal Meatshanks at your service. cool.gif

Mighty of thew and lording of space.

Hellebore

Nice but I'm afraid I'll have to pass.

Trader Lord Marius Durand here. Awaiting my "Writ to commit Almost -Heresy"!

Same here, international shipping kills it for me. Hopefully some of the other 500 will go to UK suppliers, although missing out on a WoT is going to suck.

There's always my backup plan of getting a standard edition and having it re-bound in leather.

Aye, I was looking forward to having a unique Rogue Trader, but that plan got sunk as soon as the UK got charged about £80-90 for the book and £30 for P&P.

I'd be surprised if www.leisuregames.com didn't get any though, just hope they have them cheaper than FFGs do (though I doubt it).

500 copies, $120 each. $60,000! Yikes, nice job FFG.

If the Special Edition would arrive way before the regular edition, I may have bitten. But my Agent in place is set to buy me a RT regular edition copy at GenCon, so I should have a normal copy by the end of August.

And not wait for some unknown release date.

Mine was ordered as a single order with another, so the postage wasn't as high. 2x$120 +$95P&P =$335 which is ~$405 AUD for two, making it cost around the same as the DH one I got (~$200AUD).

If only I could finish my studies and get a high paying job, I'd be able to afford this. I choose to eat this month instead of getting this, but it was a close call :P

The economics of this interest me. There were (I think) 200 DH special editions, and they now sell on ebay for a small fortune. There are going to be 5 times as many special editions for Rogue Trader, so I really can't see the same kind of black market creeping in there, or the same enormous costs for RT special editions as there were for DH special editions.

Charax, old bean, why don't you go for it? There can't be THAT many people out there with both special editions...plus you could have Rogue Trader Beryl Pendeira, sister of the renowed Inquisitor! And when the Deathwatch book comes out you could have Brother Sergeant Colin Pendeira! You know you want to.... happy.gif

Well, if people want to start donating to the "Give Charax more reasons to be a smug bastard" fund, I'm more than happy to take them!

Besides, if I were to get one it'd be in the name of Rogue Trader Alexander Lascelles Jamison, the sample character from the original Traveller books (the collected edition of which sits next to my copy of Dark Heresy)

Shame, it would have been really cool to have a complete set, but it was always going to be a long shot.

It's a noble cause, but sadly the special edition has wiped me out this month! happy.gif

My Rogue Trader warrant is for Jabez Caul, outcast nephew of Jedidiah de Caul, hereditary Planetary Governor of the paradise world Reth. Jabez is a spoiled and pampered noble brat with a crew of renegades and cutthroats that terrify him more than any external threat the Halo Stars can throw at him.

I like the interactive nature of the special editions: they give 40k fans a chance to create their own parallel narratives within the broader body of 40k canon: a sort of "private wing" of Warhammer. I'm intrigued by the mention of how these warrant names are going to be presented on the FFG website: I wonder if FFG are going to do their own version of the old BI interactive planetary sector website?

I think we should start up a charity for folks like us:

"The Poor Roleplayer's Back Pocket Fund For Shinies".

I must be the only person on these forums who couldn't think of a name for his Rogue Trader. I left the comment field blank.

Will I get a Writ of Trade with a generic name written on it?

The chance to immortalize a name of my creation into pseudo-canon is too much for me to resist.

Am I doing something wrong? When I follow the links to the product page, There is no "Buy Now" tab. Just one that says "Not yet available". Help!

Never Mind. I figured it out. Waricxx Coldragon is now ready to roam.

Ah well, too bad. Looks like it sold out. Would have bought one.
