So they showed off wave 2 yesterday and wave 1 isn't even out yet. Wave 1 was supposed to be released in Q1 which didnt happen with the core not being released till the end of Q1. I've tried looking for a better date but everything i find still says Q1. FFG says wave 2 will be released Q3 so is that reliable? Will wave 1 and 2 be released back to back to get the game back on schedule or is it more likely wave 2 will be released Q4?

Wave 1 - End of April.

Wave 2 - Q3

That is about as specific as things get.

I imagine wave 1 will be middle of of Q2. Wave 2 might not make it until the very end of Q3

Wave 2 could be a Gencon release or at the very least an early release at Gencon... If they have it.

i keep hoping for a w1 is shipping update before i go out of town to play mid april. im starting to doubt it but if we get an announcement this week i may get lucky... was only about a week after the core shipping announcement than it was in hand.

Remember the west coast ports are still digging out from the delays due to the work slowdown of last year/early this year. Things will be slow for a while yet sadly.

I was pleasantly surprised to see them give a Q3 estimate on wave 2, and it feels like a believable release window. When I saw the article was posted, I was seriously ready for it to say "OMG Q2!" as if any of us would genuinely believe that they could have these products out by the end of June.

By the end of September though? I think that is super reasonable.

Yeah, I think people need to relax. The releases will come when they come, and not before. No point in getting all worked up.

is FFG a public company? When companies start talking quarters, its typically their business' financial quarters. I believe corporation can pick when their financial calendars start, within 3 months +/-. I don't know about private companies, which is what FFG is I believe. I really wouldn't look into quarters. Most of that talk is generated to the gaming industry that measure a companies financial strength on their gaming income.

when making public announcements i imagine that their quarter statements align with the generally accepted quarters. j-m q1, a-j q2 j-s q3 and o-d q4. if they were internal documents i could see other months being applicable.

As Long as wave 2 will be released this year, i'm fine.

I do not believe FFG is a public company. The most likely reason they are using quarters for a release date is that it is a larger window of time. I do recall that they were saying Q1 2015 at one point for Armada Core Set, well it came out at the end of March so that still fell within their Q1 target. Much the same can be applied here, they are saying Q3 but the actual release could come in September towards the end of the quarter (where if they said July for a release and miss it, that looks pretty bad). It doesn't really matter what the release date is for their financial reports unless they are actually banking on that product having an impact on that quarter. If anything, I'd say it's more likely late September is when this wave will be released as that will allow them to take full advantage of the holiday shopping season.
