Deathbound question

By EGG2, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

When discarded for Intrigue challenge claim, does a deathbound card go to the dead pile or the discard pile?

They hit the discard pile. FAQ says that they only enter the dead pile from play or, in the case of events, if played from your hand. I think they still go to the dead pile if cancelled as well, though I could be wrong. I don't see the rules on that in the FAQ.

A cancelled event has been played, so it hits the dead pile.

It does not. "Cancelled" cancels the Deathbound as well. Which is why the event cancel is particularly nice against Forever Burning.

Note that eloooooooi is correct in that a canceled event has been played. It's just that the definition of Deathbound says that Deathbound events go to the dead pile when they are successfully played. Specifically, cancelled events are played but are not successful, so they go to the discard pile.

I missed that part. Sorry :)

Quite so. Had I indicated that "It does not," I would have been countering his former clause, rather than the latter.
