If you 're in the other world and at the other world encounter fase you have a card which send you back to Arkham. Where in Arkham? At the open gate or any place you want to go to?

Return to Arkham usually means "return from the Other World to a location with a gate open to the same Other World, and take an explored token." If you're supposed to return to Arkham but there are no gates open to your Other World, I think you're Lost in Time and Space.
