I seem to recall mention somewhere of a feudal world in the Calixis sector that is being kept ignorant of the rest of the Imperium for some reason. No one is allowed onto the planet with any kind of advanced tech etc etc. I was planning on using this world in an upcoming adventure, but I can't remember where I read the reference. Is it Heterodyne, which is described as being a Feudal-tech experiment of the Adeptus Mechanicus? If so, does anyone recall any other mention of it in any of the books?
Off-limits feudal world
I believe that that is indeed the planet you think it is, but no, no other info has been released on it.
I have experienced similar planets, both as player and used it myself as GM, but didn't know it was semi-official. Although the rationale we used was that the isolation and mistrust of technology as magic (witchcraft) meant that the Acolytes had to dress in archaic clothing and use "feudal" weaponry.
In my own game their patron was so nervous about them being discovered that they were even forbidden to bring any modern tech to the planet except for a cleverly disguised long-range vox caster (so they could get home).
Since they were all arrested by enemy troops and searched, it was a good thing. However if they were allowed to have modern armor beneath their clothing they might have dared the fight against 10 musketeers.
But in any case, anyone know how the Adeptus Mechanicus are influencing their research project or why?
Actually, did some more searching and think the reference I was remembering was for the planet Hilarion. Finally managed to track down a copy of the old wrtie-up for it online. I wish they'd put those back up on the website...
check out
girlgeniusonline.com for the story about the Heterodyne. Although it's a bit girly, the story is amazing.
Concerning your planet, just develop the world. It has been lost to the maps, because of xxx (warp storm, etc).

Thanks for the link!
Hi macd21.
I posted up an adventure set on Penolpass/Penopass that sounds very similar to your requirements.
It might be of interest?
