You have an input in todays Calgary Regionals! Well kind of...

By dutpotd, in UFS General Discussion

So for reasons I'm not going to delve to deeply into I haven't decided on a deck to run in my hometowns regional that starts in 4 hours time.

Needless to say I have a few tried and true decks in mind, as well as some brand new ones never yet played... I have narrowed it down to one of two decks, but I'm fairly sure they both have the guts to compete at the level I am aiming for.

Rafael - Air/Good/Life

Nagase (of the frog variety) - Chaos/Good/Order

The first person to post a reply, it need only be one word (Rafael or Nagase), will dictate who I play today and will have special mention in dut's #6 report that I post tomorrow on the results of my endeavors. Who knows, you could even be a player from my playgroup who will compete against me today, in that case you are 'picking your own poison' as some like to put it ^^

Nagase it is, if I have a say.

Rafael!...........................................

Close Nintendo...but Raphael is something I've already run. I'd like to see Frogase do well. Good luck, Dut.

Of course you do! You can look forward to a full regional report on Nagase tomorrow.

Thank you for curing my indecision gui%C3%B1o.gif

Sorry Nintendoman, ROTBI was in first - should be a good regional ^^

hahaha he beat me by one second! lol

Actually looking at the times, you beat him by one second...

The fact that you've even considered Raphael means you need to run him. Nagase has already done well in tournies. Time to make the often-praised Raphael do better than just on paper...

If you insist...

I went back and editted my typo...

So, was it all for not? Did Dut show up with the Frogase deck I chose, like he said he would? The answer to these questions are soon to come when Dut brings things to a thrilling conclusion on his forth-coming report.

P.S. The only reason Raphael hasn't done better in the past is because Rejection owned him. That's seriously the only thing that stopped my Raphael at the Texas Throwdown...he's kind of a no-brainer now, which is why I picked Frogase. Still Holding Ground and speed reducers are the only big things to worry about as Good Raphael is so easy to stack useful checks with.

He lied to you, and listened to pulleaux because "after looking at nagase, she wouldn't have been as good since raphael does better with dark force mirage body, and I can only play dark force, which is why I've only run DF decks (other than maybe 1 or 2 random times) since January..."

Really, imho, once you get to top 8 in a competitive field, your deck is legit, much of top8 is how the matchups look [how much hate you happen to be packing for your certain opponents]... the overall best deck might get knocked out in the first elimination round, that doesn't mean it's not the best.

Chubbs top8'd something with Raph

Once, and in a small(er) regional.

Not docking points; I WANT to see more Raphael!

Actually, that isn't at all what I said... It was more like "I had to pick up your friend to come to the event because he called me last minute and didn't have time to finish finding the cards for Nagase..." Which, had I played her she wouldn't have used dark froce... but would have you equally as belligerant granted order/good/chaos lockdown would have gon equally undefeated.

And... with 2 Dark Force in a deck of 78 cards and it killing only 1 game of 12 I don't think you can call it a dark force deck.

Here are the results, (of course there will still be a full report).

I used Raphael. I was king of Swiss with a 5-0-0 record. I won the first round of top 8, i.e. 6-0-0 then had to run becuase I had doublebooked myself with a party for my coed and mens soccer teams at my house that night (note my OP, I was undecided for a number of reasons).

The final will be held between me and the individual running Felicia (the 2 decks I built finished 1 and 2) in an hours time. Expect a full report with Raphael either finishing 1st with a 7-0-0 record or 2nd with a 6-0-1 record on the day.
