I'm a big fan of the BSG series and the game looks interesting. $50 is quite a bit for a board game though. How does the game play and is it worth the price tag?

First. Check amazon. I got it there for I think $35. Now on to the game bits. I’ll just copy and paste a mini-review I did for my friends.

“So I don’t know how many of you guys play board games but if you do I really recommend the Battlestar Galactica game. No you don’t need to have seen the show to enjoy it. My friend, my dad, my uncle and I broke it out for the first time last week and spent pretty much every chance we got for the next week playing it. It’s a co-op game which means instead of something like Monopoly where you try to do better than everyone else it has you all working together while the game tries to kill you. There’s a twist though in that one (or two in bigger games) of the players are secretly evil cylon infiltrators trying to sabotage the other players efforts. The accusation wars can get pretty intense and enjoyable.

Basically there are three types of problems to deal with, boarding parties trying to vent you into space, enemy ships blowing up civilians before turning there guns on you, and resource sapping “crisis cards”. That third one is where cylons can really mess you up. See there are five colors of “skill” cards and each character gets five a turn depending on who they picked to play as at the start, each crisis needs certain colors in a certain number to pass, any other colors lower the number and make it harder, so the cylon secretly throws in the wrong color to try and foil the vote, with two random “destiny” cards thrown in to muddle things up some more.

Three players is kind of a waste but anything more than that and the game becomes liquid awesome. Paranoia and sifting alliances reign. I give it a 9.5”

That basically sums up my thoughts on the game. The one flaw is that it’s long. If you don’t have three or four hours to sink into it you probably should find something else.

Thanks for the info. Glad to know Amazon carries it as well, they are usually much cheaper.
