Wave 2 Article is up! Here they come!

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

The cost is obscured, but I would hope that it is a pretty expensive choice.

Hilariously the limit on strike craft points will probably limit any list to only having one or two max.

If they'd just thrown some extra fighters on the bases of these, I would have been fine with it. Because it would have been obvious that they were leading a squad of fighters.

Also very interested what Intel does. If it's something to do with revealing information it might let you look at an opponent's command dial.

I'm glad the MC30 is on a Medium base.

It's on a small base. Says so right in the article.

Yeah wave 2 is two large bases and 2 small bases.

Gah, every time I see the Star Destroyer I hear the Imperial March. Cannot wait to field one...ahem...*eyes up more than one*

Also note that the SD and Home One both have decent anti-fighter armament, including black dice in some of them. Closing with fighter squadrons is going to hurt if you don't back them up.

I must know what the "Devistator" title says. If it's as good as it is in the LCG I'll be drooling until wave 2 hits. Well drooling more than I am now.

One of the most powerful mid-level ships in the Galactic Civil War, the MC30c frigate presented a lethal combination of speed, high-powered armament, and advanced deflector shields.

Now this fast and nimble Rebel ship arrives to Star Wars: Armada in the MC30c Frigate Expansion Pack as a small-size vessel that can fire as many as five attack dice from its left and right hull zones. You’ll also find two command dials, ten upgrade cards, and all the tokens you need to bring this Rebel ship to battle.

Now I'm just confused. They say Mid-level, then small-size.

I'm guessing the lack of maxed shields was to leave room for upgrades.

And that with certain Rebels ships and upgrades we've already seen/got, Home One could get like 8 engineering points to spend. So far! Might even get more with coming upgrades/support. That's 4 shields back in one go.

These ships are in no way under-shielded.

I just realized that the Rouges and Villians pack would have been a perfect place to introduce the Ghost from SW Rebels. Better than yet another EU character.

Are my eyes messing with me or does the Raider have 2 clicks at 1 movement? Doesn't matter because I'm already in love with this release.

I would assume they meant mid level cost. Small base.

Hmmmm........Imp Star has an evade defensive token......

Likely to be for commander/crew upgrade that provides an evade token in some way.

I will get one Rogues and Villans for sure, but I may have to base them with some fighter escorts just to look the part.

That Imperial Corvette is going on my list for sure however. My Victory's will finally have the support they need.

Home One is scary ... it can get 9 dice off the side arcs 2 red from Admiral Ackbar, Enhanced Armory is 6 red 3 blue ... that's pretty crazy ...

Seven with a concentrate fire order. Though I'd take a blue if I had them in range. Good thought.

Oh.... Looks like I found a decent Flagship.

Well, I like the game more and more - but I will have to plan my buys carefully for ....ever.....

But did anyone notice that the Falcon is not "the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy"? Dash is faster.... I know, I know, hyperspace....

:)

The Imp Star is scary up front - if it gets close and you're in front of it, your dead. That makes me wonder how Empire-Empire fights will be decided - will it pretty much be who can roll better? Or who happens to pull the better objective....Hmm...

Couple of small things:

- MC30 variants are: Scout Frigate (card) and Torpedo Frigate (token)
- Home One variants are: Assault Cruiser (card) and Command Cruiser (token)
- Raider variants are: Raider 1 (token) and Raider 2 (card)
- Looks like Modifications are going to be unique. your only allowed 1 modification per ship. Look at Slaved Turrets in the Home One expansion.

Did anyone read what the Relentless does? It basically (if I read it correctly) reduces your Command value by 1.

EDIT

Text is the following-

The total number of Command dials that must be assigned your ship during the command phase is reduced by 1.

Yup. Pretty awesome title and only 3 points.

This is also the first preview they've done where there are no linked cards. Usually you can click on a card title and see an image of it. Here they don't but they do occasionally just tell you, like with Ackbar. Weird.

They will save those for the individual ship previews.

I wonder if the ISD and VSD will have similar roles in IN lists. I hope not, otherwise the most cost-efective ship will wipe out another from our rosters.

Yep, but the wording makes it so you can still store 3 command tokens.
