Ummmm... Well I am a Rebel player for now but did anyone notice the Home One expansion is $39.95 and the ISD is $49.95?

MC80s are converted luxury liners, so you pay less for both used and secondary materials.

Obvi.

:P

Thanks..... I think. ;)

I'm not too worried about the "rogues" being too powerful tbh. Sure, the Falcon has 7 damage.....thats not really that much the way fighters work in this. He appears to have a brace and something else (probably 2 braces)....that basically means he is Luke with 2 extra hull.

Has anybody genuinely been having trouble killing Luke so far with even just TIE Fighters? Because i certainly haven't. Normally i can drop him in 1-2 rounds. The Falcon wont be significantly harder to kill, especially since there will now be Interceptors and who knows what else.

As to the others releases, looks great! The ISD vs MC80 should be a great matchup....cant wait to see the ISD-II.

For those concerned about MonCal shielding, see below. It has the potential to absorb as much damage as a Imperial SD. The numbers don't look that high but they add up more. This is consistent with the MonCal design which included intentional redundancy and duplication to prevent damage to one section of the starship affecting (or destroying) the rest. Or so I think. Looking at total defense (i.e. absorbable damage) explains more the FFG rationale for their decision IMO. I added total attack dice in as well (I didn't get into specifics as to not drag this comparison out or get lost in the details).

Imperial-Class Star Destroyer

Hull: 11

Shields: (4+3+3+2) = 12

Total Defense = 23

Total Attack Dice = (8+4+4+3) = 19

MC80 Star Cruiser

Hull: 8

Shields: (4+4+4+3) = 15

Total Defense = 23

Total Attack Dice = (3+6+6+3) = 18

For Comparison:

Victory-Class Star Destroyer

Hull: 8

Shields: (3+3+3+1) = 10

Total Defense = 18

Total Attack Dice = (6+3+3+2) = 14

MC80s are converted luxury liners, so you should be paying more - once to build it as a luxury liner, and again to strip out all of the fancy stuff and retrofit armor and guns and reactors and shields and engines to a platform that wasn't originally designed to support them. ;)

Just imagine you and your lovely wife playing high stakes cards with General Calrissian, having a fine sea food dinner with Admiral Akbar, dancing to the latest cantina music and finishing the night with watching the fireworks as an ISD is brought down by the Rebel Alliance. And the next time your family and friends asked how your trip was you too can say "It's a Trap!" Yes, you to can experience it all onboard the Home One where the only good Imperial is a dead Imperial. :D

I was expecting more shields and less hull on those larger ships, but I guess this means we'll be getting more use out of the damage deck than I originally thought. I'm okay with that.

I did some zooming to try to glean some more details. Some of this may have already been mentioned, apologies if I'm repeating observations already made.

Grit: Seems to be essentially "You are not prevented from moving while you are engaged"

Han Solo: At the start of the Ship phase (something) as if you were activated (something). Seems like Han gets to shoot first, then skedaddle, without ever being locked down (due to Grit).

Slaved Turbolasers: Something like "You cannot attack from more than one hull zone. While attacking add 1 (unknown colour) die"

Independence title [MC80]: Squadron Command: Each squadron you activate with this command has its speed increased by (1... 2??) during the activation. Seems like it may be followed by a prohibition on attacking with those squadrons in the same activation. Still, a good way to get B-Wings moving early.

Phylon Tractor Beam: Confusing and interesting...."When you (something) you may exhaust this card to choose (something) your (ship? squadron? size? something) at distance (something) must (spend? something) reduce (something)." It almost looks as though it's for targeting friendlies, in order to affect their speed/maneuver without committing them to a nav command.

Redundant (Shielding?) [iSD/MC30]: At the start of the status phase, recover 1 shield?

So happy Ackbar is beast.

But Rieekan looks super useful as well. Dead A-Wings throwing five dice as a goodbye present. :D

Yeah, I'm already calling him Admiral Hackbar.

I think what he's saying is your rebels ships are like the chair.

Actually the MC80s were basically designed to be converted into warships from the ground up so it probably wasn't as hard as it would be for a standard luxury liner to warship conversion.

Well to help cover costs maybe it doubles as a Battle Cruiser and Luxury Liner.

This needs to be a poster a la intergalactic travel agency ads.

... but having a fine sea food dinner with Admiral Ackbar? You realize he has two, HUGE, omnidirectional eyes, right? HE'LL SEE YOU REACHING FOR THAT TARTAR SAUCE!

Is Admiral Ackbars ability known? And i dont think the objective tokens with the mc30 would be for ordanance, wouldnt they make a special token for that?

Ackbars ability is explained in the article. He adds 2 dice to attacks if the ship only uses side arc attacks that turn. Basically, MASSIVE broadsides on almost anything.

IT'S A SMACK!

Holy smokes, I didn't even notice that it strongly implies his bonus is conferred to all friendly ships.

I kind of assumed he was a Commander (so all ships), but it could go either way.

He is a Commander, notice the aqua title bar instead of the tan

Super. That really makes the Rebel broadside squadron a powerful list then. MC80 + 1-2 AF2's? Thats terrifying.

The Empire won't hold their grips on the capital contest forever. But my Star Destroyers are well stocked with garlic butter!

Consider also Nebulons with Ackbar. They'll get three red dice out the flanks, pretty terrifying for such a cheap ship.

So much awesome new stuff!! My wife is going to kill me...

Corvette swarm anyone?

We'll need to see the wording on the card before we get too excited, but Corvette swarm could be nasty. They'd degrade in firepower extremely fast though.

Also, dont forget that this will actually NOT increase firepower against a single target....people are looking at it wrong. At present you can combine side/front....that wont be possible using Ackbars bonus, so you'll have to fly between enemy ships to use both side attacks. Definitely a truly terrible idea with Corvettes, but very fitting for the heavy ships. The Ackbar Slash is real!

Even though he just stole the idea from Horatio Nelson (kind of....not really, but i do like the idea that Nelson was a fish).

Ackbar fleet may like gunnery teams.
