1. Can the player carrying the dawnblade equip and use it during this Encounter?
2. Can Sir Alric use it as the Duskblade when carrying it, as the wording here is a little weird ' A master monster figure cannot wield the Duskblade, but as an action it may give the Duskblade to Sir Alric Farrow if he is in an adjacent space.' This kind of hints that it IS possible for Sir Alric to use it but does not specify this.

No and no. The token is just a token until it is awarded at the end of the quest.

Yeah unfortunately you can't take it on a 'test run' until after you have actually been rewarded the relic.
