My problem: I've been touring with the game between friends for the last few months and now discover that I'm missing one of the character bits.

If you're in a DIY mood, you can see if there's a photo of the missing bit in the Arkham Horror entry for BoardGameGeek.com . If there's not, you can always ask. I lost a earthquake token and replaced it this way. No problems at all, and no waiting for the bit by mail!
