What if wave 7 is a complete game-changer?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

In no particular order, a few thoughts about why we've been in a news drought:

1) FFG renewed their license with Disney roughly 1 month ago.

5) One of FFG's stated goals in 2015 is to shorten the window between announcement and release. So they're keeping quieter.

Do you have a source for 1 and 5?

I'm much more interested in a source for number 8

I'd be down for competitive atmospheric battles.

I agree that it's probably a combination of port strike delays, giving Imperial Assault and Armada their time in the sun, and trying to spoil new products closer to the products' release dates. I doubt FFG is waiting because of Wave 6, though ... they've never shown that they care about announcing a new product before a recently released one has had more than five seconds on store shelves.

The sky falls so often on this forum. We are getting about the same amount of new releases as we have always gotten....4 per year. This year looks like we will get Scum, Raider, Wave 7, and one thing we have no idea about.

So right now we have news about one thing in the pipe to be excited about. Lets all calm down and play with our scum for a while, and if we want to dream about the new advanced, or think about what the new ordinance will look like..we have plenty to keep us thinking.

Eh?

We've never gotten exactly four releases in a year.

Source for #1 is GAMA trade show last month. More accurately, #1 should be that a month ago, FFG announced that they had extended their Star Wars license by a significant number of years. They didn't really say they had just renewed it last month.

Yeah, managed to find that on Google, now I'm more interested in #5. Did FFG actually say this?

Not that I know of. I thought it was just speculation on our part.

They have no real reason to. Statistically, the amount of people who regularly visit websites and forums are rarely majorities, so for most of their customers the first time they learn about something is when it's on the shelf. Then there are people like me, who do check forums, but are perfectly fine handling something new and close and something on the horizon. In fact, I prefer it that way. I love to have something to look forward to as much as I love to have something new to do right now, so having a newly released and a newly announced wave happening at the same time is great.

I could see Wave 7 being nonstandard like last wave, but I won't get my hopes up for it. At the same time, they've been branching out enough that something technically nonstandard doesn't have to be such a big deal. For instance, a different ratio of ships considering the new faction.

Maybe Wave 7 will have a Star Destroyer for X-Wing?

and you had to mention a star destroyer.... and now the gates to x wing hell have been opened.....

What I think is this that they are waiting till SW celebration to announce anything.

Since the next wave is going to be all about bombers, bombs etc with maybe aces (hinted) its not going to be groundbreaking

Im thinking

More different bombs

Imperial

Bomber Title

Bomber Ace pack?

Rebels

Y-Wing Ace Pack

Scum

Heavy Bomber pack

I heard that the delay in announcements was that FFG is working on the 4th faction. The Scourge of the Galaxy! The EWOKS! or is that the Jawa's? :)
