2 Ship lists and the current meta. Trending away?

You can outplay igs (as in you possess the possibility to, notvthat it's easy)

You can't outplay a 360 arc. You can only throw lots of dice at them

I'll welcomeour robotic overlords if they oust the fat asses off their throne

That tournament was back in February, pre-scum. The Oklahoma tourney scene has changed a LOT since then. I haven't fired red dice at a turret since mid-March.

I can see 2 ship builds staying awhile in competitive play. They are not going anywhere, we'll just see less of them for now.

I do feel that wave 6 is bringing new builds with more than 2 ships. Dual IGs are just part of what 6 brings. No matter what 6 brings, Falcons are still a thing, so are swarms and arc dodgers.

Question: are 3 ship lists going to be the new 2 ship lists?

Taking control lists really mess up two ship builds. My "zen" attack list (it is just about the opposite of panic attack)

Gold Squadron Pilot w/ ict, btl-a4, r3-a2

2x Gold Squadron Pilot w/ ict, btl-a4, r2 astromech

Blue Squadron Pilot w/ ic, fcs

has taken on two ship lists 8 times during store championships, and only lost to one. The fewer ships your opponent has, the greater the effect of stress and ion. In competitive environments I love to see only two ships on the other side of the table.

Well I can tell you that 2 ship builds are vulnerable to a 4 ship control build. Because if you look at the control mechanics such as Ion stress, or Token denying/striping/stealing it takes about 2 ships to control one ship. The problem with control builds is that you need each and every ship. The moment you loose one of your ion or stress ships your ability to control your opponents ships goes straight in the garbage.

I played a control build that worked well against a 2 ship decimator/phantom and surprisingly well against Dash but not as good as the game against the 2 ship build. However against a 5 ship build it got tabled fairly easy. I was able to lock down two ships for 1 turn and a ship for about half but all the ships that were not locked down just started to dismantle my squadron.

has anyone had success with tactician and ion cannon turrets in B-Wings vs 2 ship lists? that seems like a strong counter to me.

I like the idea of using a control-ish list that doesnt get smashed by everything that isnt a 2-ship-list.

Swarms definitely have an advantage against four ship control lists. In the same way that control lists have a disproportionately high effect on two ship lists, they have little effect when going up against large numbers of ships. Who would you rather stress? A 60+ point ship, or an academy tie. That does not mean that control lists can not take on, and win against larger quantities of ships, just that they will have a harder time of it. You just have to remember your lessons of taking on a swarm with four rebel ships.

Ion cannon and tactician work quite well on the B-wing. In fact I am messing around with dropping the fcs off of the B-wing, and one of the R2 units off of one of the Y-wings to give the B-wing tactician. I like having the backup stress mechanic while having the choice of putting another ion token on a ship, or just going for straight damage if the target has been ioned enough. However I do miss the free target lock, and loss of mobility on one of the Y-wings.
