Jek Tono Porkins Squadron Card

By NOPUNintendo64, in Star Wars: Armada

An X-Wing squadron led by the infamous Jek Porkins.

Attacking ships (not other squadrons) most ignore other squadrons and only attack Jek's squadron if he is in the same firing arc.

If he and his squadron survive the attack state that "He can hold it."

The Biggs of Armada. Interesting!

Pull up!

"Hold it" has to be a defensive token unique to him

if he's ever forced into a situation in which he can't "hold it," he dies :P

^ Bingo.

Perhaps...he was best known as a strafer though. Attacking ground installations was his specialty. Maybe he has: "While attacking a ship, if the defending hull zone has no shield, your [critical] icons count as 2 damage instead of 1." A blending of Keyan Farlander and the Salvation title, I think it'd be neat.

plus one blue die when eating

That is true, in fact that is WAY better idea.

Its funny if you read the rogue squadron books wedge explains why porkins died it was because he had his inertial dampeners so high that he never actually felt how hard his g'she was pulling by trying to pull up

Ahh...thanks for that tid-bit, my friend.

I had always thought his belly got in the way! :o

Porkins' death needs some clarification:

A native of Bestine IV, a high gravity world, he was much stockier than the average human, and preferred to set his inertial dampers up to max, since minute changes in gravity would affect him more than the average pilot.

During the Battle of Yavin, when he and Darklighter destroyed a turbolasers tower, debris struck his X-wing, causing some instrument failure. This allowed him to unknowingly get low enough to the surface while between runs that the otherwise sluggish turbolaser batteries could actually track him and destroy his ship.

Wedge later stated that his love for the inertial dampers may have contributed to his death: had Porkins not had the dampers set so high, he could have felt his closeness to the surface. (The book doesn't explain how; my guess is through feeling the pull of the battlestation's artificial gravity).

Do you think George Lucas was being an a**hole by naming the fat guy Porkins? I mean seriously, he must have been ripped on all the time with a name like that.

If you look up "Fall of the Empire: How Inner Turmoil Brought Down LucasArts" you'll get a glimpse of Lucas' conventions (such as wanting a Darth Stinky in the Force Unleashed, I believe)

so yeah, probably being an ******* :P
