Guri really seems to want intimidation. Get right up in their grill and drop their defense use sensor jammer to downgrade their shots, and Palob to steal another focus. Bring along some Z's to block and shoot and you have a solid list, not great but solid.
Guri and Starvipers in general
Disagree on auto thrusters. A well control game where you can get the ranges right gives you an advantage for two turns: it's hard to hit guri at R3 allowing you to geeky close in with high health into R1 where you can melt stuff.
APT does work best on Guri but here is the thing. First you have to get the target lock at mid PS. Then you are guaranteed 3 hits but not 3 damage. If shooting at a Tie Fighter or Interceptor 3 hits can be canceled by 3 dice. You will want all 5 hits against those and they can still survive an APT attack if they get a good evade roll.
I once put APTs on Farlander and only got 3 damage out of 2 of them. Some bad rolls on my part and good rolls on their part and they end up doing nothing.
Honestly, for APT you simply have to end your activation close to your target. Take TL as the action on a lower PS ship or an expected blocked or nearby higher PS ship. Gain a free focus. Blam 5 hits.
i have run guri with either bona and oath to great success. BUT i want something else. More ships. any tested and tried great lists with guri and other stuff than firesprays out there?
Adv PT's quickly make a ship too expensive.
I have noticed I should not spend more than around 30-35 points for a small base ship. Sure there are exeptions, but then these really have to pull their weight as these expensive builds will cost you in the quality of the remainder of your squad. Even Wedge, Ten Nunb, Soontir, Guri, Xizor, Darth Vader, all fall into the 'between 30-35 points max'.
Mind you, others might work better with a maxed out small base superfighter. It's just not for me, when I field one I'll lose..

5 hits really isn't even close to worth 6 points when predator + focus quite often gets you a full 3-4 per turn, nor is the starviper a ship with exceptional enough stats that you can afford to run it much higher than 35 points
Edited by ficklegreendiceI wonder if Guri wants VI solely for the Dual IG88 matchup...in that case, would be probably a 36 pt Guri with VI + AT + Title + FCS or just Guri + VI + AT. Honestly, Guri might be good enough to have almost no upgrades on. Maybe!
Predator's imo too huge to pass up (or Lone Wolf), that re-roll really forces through some essential extra damage with focus
AT's also essential unless you plan never to run into cannons or turrets, neither of which are safe bets at this point, imo
I think Opportunist/Sensor Jammer is the most awesome way to run Guri (I didn't say best). Against stuff that shoots before her, they have to decide to use a Focus to beat her Sensor Jammer, then leave themselves open to Opportunist, against lower PS stuff, she can arc dodge and knife fight pretty well. Throw in Palob to amplify the hate and trigger Opportunist more often. Who needs ATP when you can get 5 dice Range 1 attacks any time?
