To VI or not to VI, that is the question

By Funkleton, in X-Wing

I've got a store tournament coming up next weekend and I'll probably go for a dual scum Firespray list with Kath and Boba as I've been having a lot of fun, and a better than average win/loss ratio with it.

Only thing is I can't decide whether to push for a PS bid with VI, so I can out maneuver the VI-ed dual Iggy lists I'm expecting to come up against by putting EU on both, or just go for action economy and barrel rolling escapades with PTL on Boba and Expert Handling on Kath.

The former should help me avoid taking damage, but the latter should help increase my damage output overall against ships that can be really hard to score hits against.

The bare bones of the 2 lists I'm looking at are something like this:

Kath Scarlet (43) Firespray-31 (38), Expert Handling (2), K4 Security Droid (3)
Boba Fett (49) Firespray-31 (39), Push the Limit (3), Recon Specialist (3), Slave-1 (0), Engine Upgrade (4)
This leaves me with 8pts to play with for additional upgrades - tho I would probably look to save a point or two to make an initiative bid so at least Boba can move last against PS8 Iggs
or for 93 points:
Kath Scarlet (46) Firespray-31 (38), Veteran Instincts (1), K4 Security Droid (3), Engine Upgrade (4)
Boba Fett (47) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Recon Specialist (3), Slave-1 (0), Engine Upgrade (4)
Any thoughts on which way to go?
Any suggestions on additional upgrades to fill the remaining points?

I'd go for action economy, personally

no matter how hard a ship is to get in arc, it's always harder for the one arc you draw on it to hit through dice + tokens because you have absolutely no control over their rolls

plus, very little in the game blocks harder than a b-roll large ship

if you're really worried about arc dodgers, give proximity mine Emon a look

I'll second action economy.

Buy two and you'll be a sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me.

I'd go the second, but it has nothing to do with VI and everything to do with EU.

Boba Fett (47) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Recon Specialist (3), Slave-1 (0), Engine Upgrade (4)

i like this list.

id go for HLC on Kath Scarlet (thats 4 dice is going to be need vs heavily shielded targets) and consider rebel captive or tactician on Fett. u will need some stressgiving versus action economy lists that abuse PTL.

If you haven't tried Kath with Expert Handling you really should - it's some of the most fun you can ever have with your clothes on - the only downside is that it is considerably less effective against highly mobile ships with a PS advantage, but the same can be said for using EU in its place

I ran something similar two scum Firesprays work well together, Kath is pretty deadly when you get behind her.

Having run through a few scenarios, I'm more or less settled on this:

Kath Scarlet (47) Firespray-31 (38), Veteran Instincts (1), K4 Security Droid (3), Inertial Dampeners (1), Engine Upgrade (4)
Boba Fett (52) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), “Mangler” Cannon (4), Recon Specialist (3), Inertial Dampeners (1), Slave-1 (0), Engine Upgrade (4)

Coming in at 99pts with PS10 and PS9 pilots I'm in with a good shout of moving last and shooting first against pretty much everything - I get a little economy out of K4 and recon without being tied to the green on my dials to clear stress from EH and PTL
