Anti Squadron Fire

By dch6125, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

What range can anti squadron fire be made - range one of whatever the range is of the anti-squadron dice color?

Yes. thats how i play

X-Wing nut I don't understand your answer which way do you play?

The range of the colour of the Anti Squadron is how we play it. I may be mistaken, but nowhere i see that you have to attack at range 1 using the squadron measurement tool.

ok thanks for clearing that up

Are you taking about Ship Anti-Squadron or Squadron Anti-Squadron?

Ship anti squadron

we played the distance of the type of dice the ship has for anti squadron.

But it makes sense if it was only 1.

As long as squadrons aren't killed off before they can do anything

A ship firing it's anti-squadron armament does so at the range indicated by the die color for that armament. So if you have a blue die for the armament, you fire at close-medium range.

Yes, this needs clarification from FFG. I play with the range limitations of the dice on the range ruler... So a VSD can do an anti squadron attack with the blue dice up to medium range. Even big guns can hit a fly on a longe distance ;) I could be wrong on my assumption?

Why do you think it needs a clarification?

I know it's off topic, but I'd like to see capital ships, that roll black, or red dice against squadrons, which gives them different attack range.

OR

It's the second.

I believe that some of the recently revealed Wave 2 ships have exactly that. Anti squadron armament on the ISD and the Raider card appears to be 1 blue and 1 black die.

Now this is interesting as there is an ability that eludes me that gives your left and right hull an additional ride dice for each attack. Would this apply when attacking squads or just the dice that are listed on ship card?

Enhanced armourment I think it's called.

Enhanced Armament gives one additional die for the batteryarmaments. Those are the anti-Ship Armaments.

Really thought it was side arc guns, including Anti fighter?

Enhanced Armament probably should get erratad to clear that bit up. Pretty sure the intent is +1 red when firing at ships only. We figured that the intent is whenever something originates from a ship, it uses the ship side, squadrons only use the squadron side. Seems to clear up a lot of issues.

How could it possibly be more clear than using two different well defined terms that differentiate between the two types of armament?

Reference Rules, p2, Armament:

"Anti-squadron armament is used when attacking a squadron. Battery armament is used when attacking a ship."

The card very clearly states it only adds dice to battery armament.

FFG needs to errata thier rules because people aren't reading them. Clearly they need to errata to a larger font type and color.

I believe the errata should be that every box comes equipped with a person that has actually read the rules and is proficient with using the search function of the PDF rule document. It is an outrage that this was not supplied free of charge with a 100$ game.

Edit: Also: Words mean stuff. Who would have thought?

People read and understand things differently. What is clear to you is maybe unclear for others and visa versa... And it's easy to overlook text even if you have read the rules serveal times. It happens for me to and I guess also for others in this forum ;)

I have a question regarding the use of anti squadron attacks with the rear firing arc of ships. There is a anti squadron symbol with the blue dice icon that's printed by the rear firing arc of the ships, am I correct to assume you get extra dice for attacking squadrons with the rear firing arc?

Negative. The info at the back lists the basic stats for the ship...Anti squadron fire, hull value, ship type.

It just happens to be at the back...because that's the convenient place for you to see it
