Mixed Squadrons

By NOPUNintendo64, in Star Wars: Armada

Technically you could have mixed squadrons since each individual fighter can be connected to the pegs.

For Example an X-wing and Y-wing Squadron put together:

They have the escort key word so if another squadron without escort is in range they have to be fired at first,

however, they also have the heavy keyword so squadrons they engaged can disengage from the fight.

The Max health is the lowest HP of whatever unit is in the squad.

The squadron can only move as fast as the slowest unit in the squadron.

Something like that, I just wanted to see what everyone else thought about it.

So game-wise it would be completely new squadron with different stats/keywords/cost combination? Personally I would prefer new starfighter squadron just for the flavour and minis but that would work just as fine.

Sorry, but I don't think it would work. In your example, you would just be taking the worst aspects of each (apart from Escort). Whilst, in theory it would be nice, the roles that squadrons play in Armada mean that it wouldn't really work. Each squadron has a specific role (apart from the X which serves several).

It would also be difficult to balance and get the stats right, and ultimately for what purpose? If I want a cheap bomber I take Y-Wings, if I want to intercept enemy fighters I take A-Wings - mixing and matching at this level would not really serve any tactical purpose.

The only squadron I intend on mixing is Vaders. One Tie Advanced flanked by two Tie Fighters :P

And I'll just use Vader's card and stats.

This is a neat idea just for fluff reasons. I may do that too (lord knows I'll have extra TIE fighters around...)

Yeah, I don't see much point in doing so. Maybe for a scenario or two in a campaign, but other than that...

I plan on doing this, too.

I'm also tempted to put two A-Wings together on a single base for the 'Millennium Falcon' after Wave 2 comes out. :P
