y-wing title

By gambit1977, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When using the y-wing title do you still need to me at the right range for the turret? For example range 1-2 for the ion turret

Yes, nothing is modifying the secondary attack rules.

Your only restriction is you can no longer fire outside your firing arc.

Parravon are you saying it drops the range restrictions like the range 1-2 for ion? Or do those requirements stay?

The BTL-A4 title does not affect any of the properties of the Ion Cannon Turret, or any other equpped turret.

The only thing is done is prevent them from being used to fire outside the Y-Wing's firing arc.

The Blaster Turret still requires a focus token to be used, and is limited to range 1 and 2.

The Ion Cannon Turret is still limited to range 1 and 2.

The Autoblaster Turret is still range 1 only.

The weapon is used as normal but only within the firing arc. Any ranges stated for the weapon remain the same.

Ok got it now thanks all

If you are using this card in your list, can you opt not to use it in a round? For example, can one still make a sole secondary attack outside of the firing arc (foregoing their primary attack)?

Or, if equipped you MUST follow the card's directions for the remainder of the game, that is, only fire at enemies within your arc?

Unless the card says that you "may" do something, it is required. So the title shuts down the 360 completely.

It represents the single seat variant of the Y-wing where the turret weapon was locked in position to normally fire forward.

So that's the fluff reason why you can't fire outside of your arc.

Thank you good people!

Love the title. Thing that confused me for the longest is that it came in same box as Kavil.

I have a question about the title and order of operations. My question is as follows the person attacks with the primary weapon and misses two blanks are rolled then he fires the ion cannon and roles an eye and two blanks he spends the focus token he had to get a target lock then he rerolls the two blanks with the target lock he obtained is this legal. I was under the impression that the focus had to be spent with the primary , which gave you the target lock with the ion. please help me answer this question

As long as you have a target lock token or focus token to spend, you can spend that token to modify any (one) attack.

It also seems like you might be asking about the R4 Agromech's effect, in which case the BTL-A4 title doesn't actually affect anything: when you spend a focus token, you get a target lock right away. You can use that target lock to modify the same attack, or a different attack later on.

I'm assuming you're referring to a Scum Y-Wing with the R4 Agromech.

If so, the scenario you described would go as follows:

  • Have a focus token and enemy at range 2 in arc
  • Primary attack
    • Roll 2 blanks
  • Turret secondary attack thanks to BTL-A4 title
    • Roll 1 focus, 2 blanks
    • Spend focus
      • Now have 1 hit, 2 blanks
      • Gain Target Lock on defender
    • Spend Target Lock to re-roll 2 blanks
      • Now have 1 hit, 1 crit, 1 focus
    • Cannot modify the remaining focus result because you no longer have a focus token

than you for the help guys

Anything in the rules to prevent the Locked-Turret attack from targeting a different target than the target of the primary attack?

Anything in the rules to prevent the Locked-Turret attack from targeting a different target than the target of the primary attack?

Nope!

You can totally fire a range 1 primary weapon shot at an enemy, potentially destroy it, and then fire you Ion Canon Turret at different enemy.

Just to be clear, focusing fire is usually a good idea but there's no reason you have to destroy the target of your primary weapon attack in order to switch targets.

The two attacks from a ship with the BTL-A4 title are entirely independent from one another, so you perform all the steps of making an attack separately--including target selection.
