I'm sure it's just me being dumb, but could someone please clarify the how the Escort title works please?
Cheers :-)

when you say escort title, do you mean the keyword on X-wings?
if thats what you mean, the rule ensures that if an enemy squadron gets in range of an allied squadron to fire, and an X-wing is also in range, the enemy must first target the X-wing. the enemy also must engage the X-wing (or equivalent escort fighter), while your allied squadron does not engage, and can continue moving as if the enemy was not there. However, if your squadron fires on the enemy squadrons, and they have the counter rule, the enemy squadrons may fire their counter attack.
Right now, with just X-wings and TIE fighters, the rule won't come up. this will matter more when more fighters release.
Or did you mean something else when you said Escort title?
That's not entirely true, escort will not pervent allied squads from being engaged just not fired upon

ah, yeah, thanks for pointing that out. yeah, squadrons without escort will still be engaged, the enemy will just have to focus on your escort craft first. Thank you for correcting that!
Of course ![]()
These rules are in the rules book if you know what to look for.
On page 6 of the rules,
Engagement
While a squadron is at distance 1 of one or more
enemy squadrons, it is engaged with all of those enemy
squadrons.
• An engaged squadron cannot move.
• When a squadron attacks, it must attack an engaged
squadron if possible rather than an enemy ship.
This section also discusses how obstacles effect engagement and other things
The squadron keywords modifies this. If there is an X-Wing, or a TIE/Adv, all enemy squadron who are engaged with that squadron with escort, they can only attack that escort unit, or do nothing at all, until that escort is destroyed. The Escort, likewise can attack whatever unit it wants to - unless there is that TIE/Adv (or a future squadron with Escort). But a Bomber unit does prevent other squadrons from moving or attacking - but they will still be engaged themselves.
Only Interceptors right now have the keyword Counter. The TIE/Int and the A-Wing have the Counter 2. If they are attacked, they can attack back with with two blue die. (Unless they conducted a normal attack and a Counter attack is placed on them). Page 12 has the other keywords described, bomber, heavy and swarm.
Edited by wjgoYeah sorry, I meant on the X-Wing card.
Great, that's much clearer now - thank you!
