Can we talk about how gross that upgrade is. Certain ships like the corvette NEED those tokens. In all my games with the imps I've pulled that off and been able to obliterate a ship in almost a single lucky salvo.
Overload Pulse is disgusting!
If you are killing the corvette in one round isn't overload pulse basically just changing your flipped card crit effect to a single free accuracy?

You can still use the defense tokens before the attacks goes off, they just become exhausted afterwards. I find it a much better upgrade for ships like the CR90B, that can get 4 blue dice, and then allow other ships like Support Neb's to focus fire the thing, with its pants down.
Since with VSD you only have like 2 ships (3 ships if we are generous), i don't find it really that good, specially since you can navigate around with the CR90s and it's really hard to get a 3Blue 3 Red on them if played properly.
Edited by DreadStarYup, and the corvette can still spend exhausted tokens to not die on subsequent attacks.
This is an upgrade that will shine when there is a ship lined up to make use of the enemies exhausted tokens. A fantastic way to force hard decisions.
With a single core though, the Vic has a hard time making use of it well. The CR90 can do so slightly better since the rebels have a second capital ship.
Edited by ransburgerOverload Pulse is much more for Rebels than it is for Imps.
You need to use 1 attack and it needs to have a blue crit before Pulse even has an effect, and that effect only helps future attacks, not the current one.
As was said earlier CR90s with Overload Pulse allow Neb-Bs to get more of their damage through.

Not doubting you, just don't remember the exact order of operations.
Wait is that the order of resolution? You can still use the defense tokens before they exhaust?

Order of operations for an attack
1) Declare target
2) Roll attack dice
3) Resolve attack effects (accuracy, rerolls etc)
4) Spend defense tokens
5) Apply damage (including a single critical effect)
So I've misunderstood it then. I thought it prevented any tokens from being used. Becoming exahusted on hit.
don't forget rebels can force re-rolls (or negate entirely if they use what's-her-face from the wave 1 corvette expansion, plus a close range re-roll) of a crit with the dodge token
who doesn't have those tokens? the big boys in gray
I see FFG is being sneaky with its upgrade card distribution again ![]()

Thanks Ransburger. I honstly didn't have my RRG with me and this question was bugging me.
Faction identity is great, I just found it funny that the awesome corvette card is packaged with the freaking victory ![]()
it's like the A-wing, Interceptor fiasco all over again
ah well, I'm eventually getting everything anyway

wait what? Overload Pulse comes with the Core set
Yeah, Overload Pulse doesn't kick in until the damage step, which allows the target to use its defense tokens against the originating attack, so its not quite as good as it might seem--but its still fantastic.
