Wave 3 speculation

By Animewarsdude, in Star Wars: Armada

It is a very big universe and there are many many parts that could be possible

I would love to see the rebel transport and an imperial prisoner transport ship released along with new scenarios or a campaign.

The Gladiator-class Star destroyer appeared in "Droids", it was the ship of some scums, I do not remember their name, but it make sense to have a scum little fleet of two ships or something similar, of ships of that size.

Pretty sure Droids was also a showing of Screed and his Gladiator.

Check up Screed on Wookiepedia - lots of images, including Demolisher

You can see it in "Star Wars Droids episode 7 - The Pirates of Tarnoonga"

I would like to see some non combat ships like the BFF-1 bulk freighter and the GR-75 transport for something to fight over. GR-75_Medium_Transport.jpg

or even a station along this line Starbasecarida.jpg

I favour the Interdictor, Assault Frigate Mark I, another variant from the Mon-Cal cruiser fleet, plus Dreadnought and commercial transports. But please, please, please FFG: for the price we are paying, include both an Imperial and Alliance card for the Dreadnought and transports (or any other dual-use vessel). It is a small ask and would make up for the missed opportunity to issue the Nebula-B and Corvette with Imperial cards.

Space stations are not hard to make yourself. You could also buy one from space rocks.

The Spacerocks station would look outstanding when painted properly, just ask them to supply it unpainted. I'm sure they's agree.

Holy necroposting Batman!

But since we're doing it, maybe we need to get our bets in before the Wave 3 announcement does happen. With Wave 2 about to arrive, we're already overdue for the Wave 3 announcement.

Anyway, I do bet we're going to get the GR75 and the Gozanti (assault carrier), though I have no idea what form they'll take (small or squadron base) or what they'll be for. I will go out on a limb and guess that they will be packaged together, like Rogues and Villains are packaged together - (though I won't actually wager a money bet on that last bit)

Like ouzel posted, I think bulk freighters would be awesome (along with special objectives relating to protecting the freighters), but I don't think it will happen. ( :( )

Aside from the package above, I'm going to guess that we'll get a small and medium ship for both factions. The Liberty -class Star Cruiser (a large-base ship) will not come out until Wave 4, I think. For the Rebels, I'll prognosticate that we're going to see a Pelta -class frigate and (maybe) the Marauder -class corvette . I don't know if the former will be a small medium or a large small, but the latter should definitely be a small-base ship.

For the Empire, I'm guessing we get a Vindicator/Immobilizer -class star destroyer (medium) and an Arquitens -class cruiser (small).

Possibly something in the 90point zone, as we have nothing yet for that cost.

I very much doubt it too. Though I suppose they will release new objectives at some point, probably packaged with other content. Whether the objectives are specifically for use with that content only, or merely synergistic with it, is a different question.

In the meantime, I encourage you to try these (with third-party miniatures, or by proxying CR90s) for a faux convoy scenario:

Bulk Freighter ( Rebel / Imperial ).

GR-75 ( Rebel ).

Vital Cargo upgrade card.

Limited Warfare objective card.

The Arquietens-class crusier showed up in Rebels. Does that make it galactic civil war cannon and fair game?

Probably. We'll know if we get a Pelta or an Arquietens.

Yes, that's exactly why I put them on my list. They're not the ones that I am most eager to see; just what I think is contemporary canon. Of course, that doesn't make me right. After all, contemporary canon does not get us VSDs, GSDs, or Raiders.

My whishes:

But I am fine with a New Order and Resistance Wave (or 3, one for each of the new movies [Wave 6, Wave 8, Wave 10]).

Does anyone think wave 3 might be episode 7 only, and they might be secretly shipping it already to release just into the new year to catch all the ep 7 hype? It would explain the long silence from a company that has had previews up to a year before some things have been released.

I really hope not, and really doubt it. They probably will include one or two new ships from Ep. VII, but I doubt there will be enough to fill an entire wave (two new capital ships per faction, minimum of 2 new squadrons per faction). On the off hand chance there is, I doubt they'd be able to "secretly ship" it, and have it just waiting in stores for us to all be surprised come mid-December.

Honestly, how would they do the X-Wings and TIEs that would make them different than what we already have, but keep them from drowning out what already exists? This isn't X-Wing, where the minute differences between fighters can be shown off, and the details count. First Order Ties, from all outside appearances, look almost identical (colors swapped) with regular ties. What's to keep people from playing all of their old TIEs as the supposedly better First Order TIEs?

VSDs, at least, are canon: they're in the Tarkin novel.

I think the next 3 days will tell the tale. If they haven't announced Wave 3 by EoB Wednesday, I wouldn't expect one till after Force Awakens is in theaters. They might not have a Full episode 7 wave, but it is possible that there is a secret resistance ship that they aren't able to disclose yet.

I have a hard time betting for an Episode 7 wave at this time. The only capital ship we've seen is the new Star Destroyer, and 1 ship is a far cry from a wave. I would guess by Episode 8, we'll see more space combat, and have enough aggregate ships to constitute a wave.

It seems entirely more likely to me, that wave 3 will include much of the "new cannon" that we've seen in both Rebels, and the Comics. This will likely include both the Arquitens class light cruiser, and the Interdictor, both of which are canonized by rebels, and the arquitens specifically has also been in the comics. (Darth Vader series).

As for what the Rebels would get out of this - I would like to see the winged Mon Cal ship (Liberty?) and the command ship from Rebels, (looks like a CR-90 but much larger). The command ship would likely still be a small base, but it would be more formidable, sized more like a Gladiator, but functioning in a way to support nearby ships.

I'd also expect to see Gozantis and GR-75s - however I'm unsure if they would simply be small base ships (Smallest of the small), large squadrons, or something new altogether.

EDIT - I'd ALSO like to see the Imperials get 1 extra ship - I don't care where from... I just want to bring the ship count up to par for both sides.

As are Ton-Falk escort carriers, two different types of Intradictor, the Immobilizer 418, and an older model who's designation escapes me. Also the continued use of the Venator, V-wing fighters, ARC 170s, and Vader's Black ETA2 starfighter, at least 5 years into the Empire.

I think the question on a lot of fans minds is; why haven't they announced yet? Look at past announce and release dates for Armada, X-Wing, and Imperial Assault and you will see that FFG has a record of announcing the next wave before the newest wave releases. IA had 4 waves announced before Wave 2 / Twin Shadows came out.

Word is, Wave 2 was supposed to release around GenCon. Stuff happens, and Wave 2 was pushed back, but why wasn't wave 3 announced. Months pass... Sullust and Worlds passed... Both prime opportunities, but still no announcement. Here we are, down to the wire.

We could still see it this week. Wave 2 IA was announced only 2 days before Wave 1 released.

But if there is no announcement this week, that would raise a very large question as to why. Is there any wonder that people are looking to Episode 7's release next month for an answer?

The TIE F/O is pretty easy actually. Give it one more HP and increase its cost by 2 points. Makes it more survivable than an Interceptor and normal fighter but at the same time it is not that much stronger.

The T-70 can change its red die to Black and a blue die to black increase point cost by 3 points.
