There are many, many alliance and Imperial ships I would like to see depicted long before scum and pirates are given to this game.

I hope that they also dig in the Star Wars: Legacy comics so we can get ships like, The Imperius Class Star Destroyers, or the X-83's.
but it be really interesting, to me at least, if they also had star destroyers for the rebellion, that had been stolen, and now are covered in rebellion markings.
and I'd also love to see Republic ships too Venator Class Star Destroyers, V-19 Torrets, ARC-170's, V-Wings, Jedi interceptors, (republic) Y-Wings,
Some would disagree that it works in X-wing. Mercenaries recruitable by other side would have been so much better. It wouldn't stop me from playing Armada, but I'd have no interest in buying any scum expansions.
I would quit if FFG was stupid enough to add a scum faction to Armada. Seriously, no. It works with X-wing but not here.
Haven't even played with the new toys of wave two yet and people are all ready off to wave three.....Alrighty.......
Ok well, what I would like to see for wave three is for rebels to having fighters that do a better role in the ant fighter department.
We got decent fighter for wave one but seriously rebel fighters just don't do the anti fighter thing as well as Imperials
Now rebels are great at anti ship and that's awesome just if we could have some more fighters that were not so meh at anti fighter roles then that would be great.. Maybe some E-Wings, Z-95's , K-Wings though those are more for bombing and like rebels need more bombers.....
Next up I would like to see more capital ships on the rebels side that has most of its firing batteries in the front arc because well we could use some ships that do well from firing from its front arc. Not saying the Neb B is not good at it because your still a beautiful ship Nebulon B and I will always have a love for you.......I would like to see the Assault Frigate MK I. Some Dreadnaughts. The other big Calamari ship that looks like home one but has the wings on the side???? Name escapes me....
As for a third faction ...oh and this is the part were people get their panties in a wad....
I am a big supporter of Scum, Bounty hunters mostly , and pirates , Hutt cartels , and crime syndicates in the lovely world of Star Wars. So we all know that the big ships do in fact exsist for them so if they become a reality in this game then awesome, and if not oh well.... I mean there are what? A couple of other factions or groups that pretty much have a formidable Armada? Hell you could do a fleet for Mandalorians if you wanted to. So as for a certain third faction, possibility is there just what will FFG pick if they do decide to move forward in introducing a third faction? I don't know but I doubt we will see a third faction in wave three.... A third faction would probably come maybe wave five through seven.
As for imperials well there are soooo many variants in the Star destroyer design just pick one that fits on the table. For Imperial fighters well the same applies for TIE's so many variants just choose.
And that's my take on wave three.
Imperial:
Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruiser (Medium)
The ship could serve to be an option to Imperial fleets not having all of their guns focused entirely in the front arc. It could also be similar to the Gladiator in that it could be a little more maneuverable.
Interdictor-class Star Destroyer (Large)
This ship would be cheaper than an ISD with more of a focus on support roles maybe being able to reduce enemy ship speeds or have good options for defense, maybe having the evade token to represent the gravity fields disrupting missile and torpedo fire.
Imperial Support Craft (Squadron)
1: Decimator
It could act as another ship similar to the Rouges and Villians pack, mostly think it should be there to actually have an Imperial ship.
2: Lambda Shuttle
It could be used as a support craft to probably extend the reach of your ship's squadron commands.
3: Tie Defender
Keep them as the best fighters from lore, maybe giving them escort and a natural Brace defense token.
4: Alpha-Class Star Wing
Another bombing option for Imperials.
Rebel:
Mon Calamari Liberty Cruiser (Large)
Basically to have the standard Mon Cal cruiser there.
DP20 Frigate (Small) aka Corellian Gunship
Rebel heavy hitter for the small ships, probably make it so that they want to speed in fire a lot of black dice then run away before getting fired back in return.
Rebel Support Craft (Squadron)
1. GR-75 Transport
Rebel support craft.
2. Ghost/VCX-100 Light Freighter
Another option, also to give symmetry to the Decimator.
3. E-Wing
The Rebel high end fighter. Though something better may work.
4. Z-95
Cheaper Rebel squadron, maybe keeping escort but losing the bomber keyword.
I agree with almost everything, but I think the Ghost doesnt fit there. If you want the equivalent to the Shuttle for the rebels thats the Nova Courier. And I dont know if the GR-75 would be a support craft. I think it would still be a Small Ship. It works as a ship not as a maneuverable fighter/shuttle.
I'm not too learned in SW lore but having a Scum faction with a fleet of capital ships sounds a bit ridiculous.

So yes. Pretty stupid and ridiculous.
Edited by melminiaturesVigil class corvette anyone?
I'm pretty sure both FFG and Disney will want to leverage the upcoming movies and FFG will start releasing ships from Episode VII as soon as they are allowed. I believe I read products from the new movie can be sold in ... Sept? My guess is Wave 3+ will contain lots of material from the new movie.

There have been Scum groups with fleets in Star Wars for a long time. The various pirate fleets the Empire is mentioned fighting in the early WEG material. Black Sun and the Invids, the Stark Consortium, The Hutts, Drea Renthal's fleet. Even in the new canon there are some pirate fleets.
Scum fleets make a ton of sense. Why else would literally every ship in all of star wars (including in a time of peace where no major wars have been fought for 1000 years) be armed? Not only slightly armed, but usually military-grade armed.
Those Pirates must be out there and they must be very heavily equipped. Why else have such a healthy bounty hunting industry? Why else would the Empire need star destroyers to patrol outer rim sectors instead of hordes of corvettes, if Pirates only used fighters and the space equivalent of armed fishing boats?
The Rebels are probably as well armed as a large pirate band. Remember in ESB, the Rebel base, shield generators and other items were initially dismissed as 'Smugglers' until Vader said Luke was there. Why would Smugglers have trench defenses, turrets, and a big surface-space ion cannon, if not for fear of attack by large spaceships, presumably not just by the empire?
Edited by KillionaireI'm no sure I would go that far. While I suppose large pirate bands might have ships with equivalent or close to equivalent combat power to most Alliance ships I doubt the number of ships in any one pirate band would be nearly as high as that of the Alliance fleet. Also I'm hoping that any battleships like MC80s or Star Destroyers in pirate hands are kept very rare. I could see some pirate bands using old CIS warships though, and the current canon CIS warships are most likely all battleships sil 8 or up in FFG's system. Plus Tarkin mentions that capital ship scale uglies become commonly used by pirates in the post Clone Wars era.
The only "pirates" at the fleet level I'd expect are Separatist holdouts. It's better in the interest of scum and pirate forces to stay under the radar and not attract attention to their illegal activities. Otherwise they'd ask for the attention of an entire Imperial battle group, which realistically includes a super star destroyer and half a dozen Imperials, at least.
Single-seat fighters are easier to get away with because they are easier to get away in.
I doubt SSDs are common enough for anti-pirate missions and there is precedent for pirate fleets in both Legend and canon they just won't have much in the way large base ships if they stick to Legends.
Edit: Also it would make more sense IMO for pirates to favor small or midsize capital ships over fighters when they can get them because capships can carry loot, and transport boarding parties much more easily then fighters can. Sources for the capships would be more difficult to find then fightercraft but we know that in both Legends and canon there are outlaw shipyards which would manufacture ships illegally for the right price, and in canon those yards can produce ship up to at least the size of a Victory Star Destroyer, plus there's always salvaging wrecked or abandoned ships and when the CIS droids shut down there were probably a lot of of abandoned CIS ships left behind for salvagers to recover and reactivate.
Edited by RogueCoronaWill there be Riplibus or Dimok factions?

Alright, you've convinced me: Yuuzhan Vong or bust!
please god no Vong

I can 100% guarantee that the Tie "Punisher" has guaranteed there will be an Interdictor released for Armada
There's a spoiler pic of the Interdictor on one of these other threads. Assuming the source magazine has its facts straight.

Edited by Corellian CorvetteI'd like to see a squadron pack re-done as an Aces pack to give us additional pilots for the base fighter squadrons. Throw us two elite pilot cards for each type of craft (Jake Farrell and Arvel Crynyd A-Wings, Turr Phennir and Carnor Jax Interceptors, etc) so we have more options when it comes to squadron building.

Unfortunately it is as found that the article was using what appeared to be a custom made card from a thread here. Plus the article gave no spoilers. It was just a piece on the game. Nothing to see there. Move along, move along.

If there's a significant enough of a threat to Imperial supremacy, the Empire will send a fleet to crush it. Even if it doesn't include a Super Star Destroyer the Empire has what, billions of Imperial-class Star Destroyers? A full battlegroup would amass more than 3-400 points in this game. Scum could probably scrape up enough points to make 150, realistically.
Thing is, while scum do use bigger ships for boarding and loot-hording they don't use those ships for large fleet battles. The only ones who might are the hutts, and basically they're space navy is something of a functional honor guard according to Lords of Nal Hutta. Anyone else is a space pirate operating one ship or a few, and usually they try to vanish at the sight of Imperial Authority reacting to them. It would be like throwing a single CR-90 base (Either as one model or as a swarm, in the style of the custom creators here) against a Victory, a Nebulon, and the fighter escort.
I guess Zann is out there too, but I consider his presence as legitimate as the Vong's. If we must have a third faction I'd vote Hapes, if not Third Order.
We don't have a full listing of the canon pirate fleet Tarkin bested in his youth but it is referred to as being a flotilla of frigates and corvettes. Just two of each would put it at 180 points in Armada. And that's with no commander, no fighters, and no crew or ship upgrades And I am certain there were far more then 4 capital ships in that fleet.
In Legends there are much larger pirate fleets even if you leave out the Zann Consortium, or those known to be backed by the Hutts or Black Sun. The Eyttyrmin Batiiv band had 140 ships including roughly six squadrons of Starfighters and 28 corvettes and patrol craft So I would say that Scum fleets on the Armada scale are far from impossible in the setting
