Rebel Hero Skirmish Squad

By kurttkrueger, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Hey Guys,

Just thought I'd run the below skirmish build past you and see what you think. I wanted to run all the Rebel Heroes in one squad, so I've come up with the following:

Fenn Signis

Gaarkhan

Diala Passil

Jyn Odan

Gideon Argus

Mak Eshka'rey

Rebel High Command

Balance of the Force

Command Cards are as follows:

Cripple

Burst Fire

Furious Charge

Sarlacc Sweep

One in a Million

Take it Down

Shadow Ops

Pummel x2

Expose Weakness x2

Urgency x2

Element of Surprise x2

I've never properly played skirmish, but I like the idea of a using crack Rebel Team for games.

What are your thoughts? How well would it play? (or not!)

Deployment cards:

To start you do have 6+ deployment cards which is a good start. Having that many activations is useful to keep you from getting swarmed with enemy activations. A downside to the list you have is that your deployment cards only consist of one character per card. Having multiple characters lets you keep the deployment card active after you lose a figure and allows you to take more actions per activation. This is where troopers, and saboteurs can be extremely useful in an all rebel list.

Command cards:

Command cards have several limits. You are limited to 15 total cards, 15 points of cards, and the number of any specific card taken. With your Balance of the Force card you meet the first two criteria. You do not meet the third criteria. The number of pips(small rectangles) next to the card cost, is the maximum number you can have in a command deck. You can only take 1 Element of Surprise,1 Urgency and 1 Expose weakness.

All rebel lists tend to take more unique figures with Mak and Gideon being so cheap at 3 pts a piece, but having all uniques is going to get you walked all over by someone with more figures on the board. Someone that brings a lot of storm troopers, Trandoshans, or Royal Guards will do a significant amount of damage to you by killing your characters, but keeping 1 of their units alive per card.

Personally I start building lists in a couple of ways then tweak them afterwards:

*One strong unit, a medium unit and some weaker ones by point cost

Example: General Weiss(strong), Elite E-web(medium),Stormtroopers x2(weaker), Imperial Officer x2(weaker).

(This list moves slower, but has a lot of power behind it. The officers help with speed and positioning)

*Several Medium strength units and then a bunch of weaker ones by point cost

Example: Luke Skywalker(medium), Elite troopers(medium), Elite Saboteurs(medium) Gideon(weaker), Saboteurs x2(weaker), Balance of the Force.

(Haven't played this list yet, but saw it posted up elsewhere)

This is excellent feedback! Hadn't caught the issue with the unique cards, thanks for pointing it out.

Back to the drawing board!
