Maybe I'm just overthinking things, but I ran across a confusing question the other night:

My Dark Aggro deck had a few Dark Friends out, highest level in play was level 3. The opponent played a Jack level 3, which brings all Dark levels down by three.

In my hand I had a level 5 Dark Friend, and we couldn't figure out if I would be allowed to play him or not. Normally I need a level 4 to bridge, but since all the Dark had their levels reduced by 3, does that mean that I can play him? Or does it mean that now, "virtually", I have a bunch of Dark Friends out at level 0, and in my hand I have a level 2, so I'm still a level short?

When Jack is out ('n certainly it depends on the level, but we'll use lvl 3 for this example), all your dark cards in hand 'n on the field are lower'd by 3 levels. Meanin any level 1-3 are all consider'd lvl 0 friends, whether in hand or on the field.

So your lvl 5 card is certainly lower'd by 3 levels, makin it a lvl 2 card. With that bein said, you'd want a lvl 4, which would become a lvl 1 card, either in your hand or on the field to play the lvl 5 card.
