How does a check works if you have extra bonus?

For example I have a fight of 1 at mine investigatorcard and a +3 to Combat checks on mine itemcard. The monster has a -2 fight.

How must I see this?

1) I have 4 combat checks - 2 (from the monster), so I can roll 2 dice? Or

2) First all investigatorfights - 2, so he has -1 and this is set to 0 and then + 4 combat check (from the item card). I now roll with 4 die?

Calculate all modifiers, roll that much dice, with a minimum of 0. Then add dice at your pleasure (even after the initial roll) per clue token spent.

I don't quite get the question, so my feeling the answer seems quite easy might prove wrong... but anyway. As the above fellow said, you think to much ! You got Fight : 1, then you add your stuff, +3 = 4, then you substract the modifiers (ie here the monster), -2 = 2, so that makes 2 dice..... but I so got the feeling you were asking for more ?!preocupado.gif

I think I get what the OP is asking.

Unfortunately, all modifiers to a dice roll are 'cumulative' with each other. The sensible way of working it out is to add all the positive modifiers together, then subtract all the negative modifiers from that. Then, if the resulting number is less than zero, treat it as zero.

After rolling the dice (or not rolling if you have no dice) you can add clue tokens one at a time until you get a success. Clue tokens are the exception to this, because they're not really a modifier: they always let you roll a die; you don't have to 'cancel out' a negative fight score first.

I agree with TheC: If you are spending clue tokens to add to success checks you always get the dice to roll. This is even if the check is at a "-10".

Oh, so he was talking about clues to get a right to roll a die... ok. So yeah, as you both said, you get your die, whatever level you got under 0, because as said in the rules, or in the faqs, a clue always gives you your die, always. And if you got a skill that states you get an extra die when you use a clue related to that skill check, then you get one additional die. Simple eh ?
