Female Devaronians... What do they look like?

By RodianClone, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Best answer evar! I'm a male and I still have a crush on Leia, especially in the white dress from ANH. I also love Mara Jade. Make up your own species and leave the gender identity politics out of it. :D

Ahaha, yeah :)

I was seven when the first movie came out, and I sooo wanted to be her. I had the girly lightsaber they made and everything (it was a torch with some cheap tubing, but it was 'light enough for princesses' so I wanted one!)

(Hmm, this looks suspiciously not-legit...! WTF is a 'force beam' or a 'Starwalker'...? And yet, it says 'Star Wars' TM? Was this canon or not? Desslok? Anyone?

Aaaggh, my childhood is ruined yet again! I was actually a faux-princess, with a cheap, knockoff lightsaber! The Sith option is actually a nice touch, though!)

By the time Return of the Jedi rolled around, I was 14, and I just wanted her...! I think my hormones just carbonised during the movie or something. Anyway, I blame George Lucas for how I turned out...

Hey, I love Leia and sexy aliens too! But I think it is silly when the weird and ugly aliens are given a feminine make-over and a dash of human to make a female versjon of it.. Peace

Yeah, I agree, and am happy for the weird ones to stay weird. (That said, I kinda like the Rodian dancer in Jabba's Palace... Should I feel ashamed...?)

At least with Devaronians, we have options, yes, regardless of what FFG decides they look like? We are masters of our own games.

For the record I do not think Leia should look like The Thing from the Fantastic 4.

Good to see another lady gamer here, zypher!

Gotta admit I loved Ben Grimm too. He was uglier than the Hulk, but he wasn't angsty about it. In an age of clean-cut white-bread heroes, here was a working-class, middle-aged Jewish guy who just liked his sports papers, his favourite armchair and his stogie cigars. And his unashamedly blue-collar war-cry, 'IT'S CLOBBERING TIME!'

I wasn't trying to be a downer, but I just wanted to make sure that the universe and game stays fun for everyone. :)

The one that always makes me chuckle at the transparent anthropomorphizing and sexualizing is non-mammalian species where the artwork goes straight to "female = breasts and hourglass".

It was a bootleg unfortunately. :( The good news is that it's worth a bloody fortune to collectors, so if you still have it then you could be rolling in the dough. :D

Boys have a ***** and girls have a VA-GIN-A

Only in mammalian forms is that reasonably a given.

Male salmon, for example, have no external genitalia at all. It's quite possible for xenomarsupials to theoretically lay unfertilized eggs, use external fertilization, then pouch the fertilized eggs. (Hell, certain frogs actually do that.)

Sex in nature can get weird.

The internet has taught me that just because most females might naturally be covered in hair in certain places, an absurdly large proportion will be displayed without it. Could be the same with Devaronians.

It's worth noting that humans and chimps have very similar numbers and locations of hair follicles... and each DOES have a hair. It's just not readily visible without magnification on humans. Usually.

Female Falleen immediately come to mind. They have little need for physical features to advertize their gender; they're pheromonally hyperactive, so a male and a female should be able to tell each other at some distance.

Rodians.

On the other hand, Duros, Trandoshans, and (I think) Barabels don't show much dimorphism. And a lot of the insectoids don't show it either; Verpines are hermaphrodites.

Rodians and Falleen are (I believe) reptomammalian, so there is at least a slight excuse for their curves. I did notice and like that the Duros lady from Enter the Unknown wasn't given mammalian proportions.

For sure. Despite whatever minor criticism I may have for the genre as a whole. FFG has produced some of the best SW art I have ever seen. Each piece seems well thought and artfully done.

And actually Klatoonians, which is a nice surprise. And I hope Wookiees, Whipids and Hutt don't look too different or feminine in a "human" way..., However, I'm afraid Even Duros gets the girly make-over, judging by the artwork. But I'm glad they didn't give them hair :P

Wait -- Hutts aren't hermaphrodites anymore?

Make sure to ask them in-character. They'll likely just laugh it off...

No. That was confirmed during Celebrations last year by Pablo Hidalgo. Probably keep closer in line with Disney image. Such as it is.

Ah. Another piece of my childhood dies :(

Alas, it's long become a Force Ghost, just like all my toys and stuff. When Phantom Menace came out, there was a resurge in interest and a friend of mine started to get his kid into Star Wars. All my old stuff was in the attic; I didn't have the original boxes but I did have most of the Palitoy/Kenner stuff (apart from the last set which almost nobody had). So I just gave it all away to clear space. I'd sooner it went to a fan than a jumble sale. I'm not even sure if that old red lightsaber torch worked :(

I must admit though, it's a ballsy bootleg, to have 'Star Wars TM' plastered over it. Ah well, it was the 70's; I don't think anyone really took copyright seriously then. There were loads of Star Wars toys, including erasers and pencil cases, which I doubt were legitimate. It would be absolutely unthinkable today.

Maybe that should bother me more, but I guess I'm not *that* invested in the mechanics of Hutt reproduction...

For some of us it was part of what made hutts alien and interesting, and by extension, Star Wars more alien and interesting... Ah, well...

Certainly -- I don't like the change... I'm just not able to muster any "outrage" about it right now.

But if the aliens aren't sexy, what's the point...?

Well, I am married to a sexy alien. She's got a green card and everything.
