Fate and Psychic use question.

By Dephlin, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Awhile back I read about this in the forums but I can not find it now. Can you use fate to reroll 9s and or Psychic Phenomena?

I dont think you can but I would like to know for sure.

Ehr....No, you can't and shouldn't allow it...otherwise your psyker won;t be afraid of his own powers

In addition to what Santiago said, we should take a look at the exact wording about spending Fate Points:

"Re-roll any one Test. " -Errata 3.0-

Seeing that the Psychic Phenomena and Perils of the Warp are not test they should not be able to be re-rolled. If you could re-roll them, this would logically mean you could also re-roll the gaining of Mutations or gaining of Malignancies and whatnot, which I doubt is the intention.

The Psyker could, however IMO, re-roll the original 9 by spending a Fate Point since that is acually part of a test.

Cool thanks a lot for the answers. That solves my problems.

Since all the dice rolled are part of the same test, would that mean that the psyker has to re-roll all the dice, or just the one with a 9 ?

I would make them reroll all of them, IMO it would be an abuse of fate if the psyker could choose just one dice to reroll. When a character fails a skills test they dont get to just reroll the percentile die if thats what made them fail...

But you can do it with the "Lucky" power. The way I see it, that's almost the way that was meant to be played.

Why is it a Test? I thought Tests were always against characteristics.
