Newbie Questions

By zhentil, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I know that this will be dumb but here are a few questions i have.

1. On the Deployment cards the Royal Guard. I know that it is 12 points and i get 2 figures. The 6 means what? How many actions i can take with both figures.

2. The abilities for each Deployment card do those count as an Action?

I will probably have more, but these are it for now. thanks again everyone.

I don't have the game yet (it arrives monday) but I've ready through the rules and watched a few youtube videos on it. So with that in mind:

1. its 12 points for 2 Figures. If one dies, you can pay 6 threat to bring in a new one. If both die you would need to spend 12 threat to replace them. Each figure can take 2 actions per Activation, but the cannot attack twice, unless an ability allows it (such as a Special Action, or Command Card)

2. These are called Special Actions, and they do count as actions.

The big number on the cards is the Deployment cost the smaller number is your Reinforcement cost. In the skirmish you'll use the Deployment cost when creating your 40point squad. The Reinforcement is cost is referred to on a couple cards but for the most part has little affect on the skirmish game. Its used more in the campaign where you spend Threat to reinforce a squad with figures that have already been defeated.

Each figure gets 2 actions to use during their Activation. So when you activate the Royal Guards each of those 2 figures get 2 actions to use.

If an ability has the arrow looking icon it is considered a Special action and takes one of your actions to use the ability. Keep in mind each figure in Skirmish can only attack once unless an ability allows multiple attacks. Each figure can use each Special Action but cant use a specific special action more than once. So Vader can't Force Choke twice.

If there is no arrow icon then it doesn't take an action to use. So for instance the Royal Guard only has to be adjacent to a friendly figure to utilize his Protector ability. Each of these abilities usually have some type of trigger. The Protector ability is triggered when an adjacent friendly figure is defending. Forward Vengeance will trigger when an adjacent friendly figure is defeated.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask whatever questions you have.
