Martell and Greyjoy core decks?

By Guan Yu, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Hello Seven Kingdom comrades,

I have been reading the Ice and Fire books for some time now and I finally though it was time to dive headfirst into the LCG. This was after a long self-debate on which of the LCG and the board game would most resemble the books. Did I make the right choice?

Anyways, back to my original question. When I do things, I do them big and in this case I purchased the core set and fifteen chapter packs available, (I think that is all that are available right now.) I understand that the core set comes with four prebuilt decks, but no decks for Martell and Greyjoy. Finally to my question, can anyone suggest a beginners deck for these two houses that would work well with the decks in the coreset for playability and theme? My plan is to start with these six and build from there as me and my closest allies/ememies vie for the Iron Throne.

Thanks for your help!!

Well, soon (as in hopefully end of the month soon) there will be a Greyjoy expansion Kings of the Sea and presumeably before christmas we will have a Kings (gah) of the South Martell expansion as well. Right now, there's no real LCG legal alternatives to make basic decks with Martell or Greyjoy, though I've made a decent enough greyjoy deck and martell can be done, you'll just be lacking some of the basic cards that the other four houses have.

Thanks for the info, we are casual players and not too stressed about the legalites. I just kinda wanted a couple of decks so we could start out saying, "so which of the six houses do you want to play with." To be honest, I have very little experience with CCGs or LCGs in general. I just wanted to have something that my friends and I could play that would resemble the tension provided in the books. I appriciate your assistance.

I did notice some decks for both houses represented in the forums, do you think these deck would work. I think i would do some rearranging, for example taking Shae out of the Grayjoy deck due to her connection to Lannister (I just started reading Storm of Sword don't spoil anything) : )

I hope this makes sense, I just need a couple of starter style decks, but it appears that I will have to wait for the upcoming expan.

Thanks again!

If you do normally go big with things, you may find that you want another core set to get some cards in multiple copies. A third core set is nice but not necessary if you and your friends get really into deck building.

A couple buddies and I have bought between us three core sets and most all of the chapter packs. Not sure about the chapter packs because the purchases of those have been very haphazard. But we are having a great time buidling decks and playing. But there just don't seem to be enough cards to build Greyjoy or Martel. One of my buddies is chomping at the bit to build and play Greyjoy but the expansion is necessary. I want Martel, but looks like I will be waiting awhile longer.

If you allow Dornish Fiefdoms and Water Gardens(the basic locations every house has) its possible to make decent decks.
