Melancholic + Quest for Vengeance

By Smazzurco, in UFS Rules Q & A

Ok so a multiple copy of MM is originally 2LH.

If you played QFV on the original MM and it deals damage, does the multiple get both bonuses?

Does the static from MM go off first?

Does the floating effect from QFV go off first?

Does the player (whose turn it is) get to decide?

On another note, if you play 2 copies of QFV, and after one floating effect resolves the attack is >3 speed, the 2nd will fizzle correct?

Playing against a Zie Mie MM deck today so would be nice to get these answer quickly if anyone is lurking in the shadows.

The multiple copy shouldn't get a bonus as Quest for Vengeance states "the next attack you play this turn with a speed of three or less gets +2 speed". The key word here is play : multiple copies are not considered as played.

yeah hes correct but if you played a second MM after the first one(and its multiples) resolved then it would get both bonuses as you should be able 2 stack them in the way that you chose

and yeah you got it right the second one would fizzle unless you played it on a 0 or 1 speed attack because it would still be under 3 when the second one goes to resolve

Quest for Vengeance never fizzles

If you have multiple Quests waiting for a slow attack to be played, then they resolve one-at-a-time, giving that attack speed bonuses. If your attack gets boosted to a speed greater than 3 by a Quest, then the trigger for the Quest disappears, and any remaining Quest effects just keep hanging out waiting for another attack that's slow enough to get boosted.

So if you hit with a move and have 3 QfV E's on it, then either your next 3 attacks with 2 or 3 speed will get +2 speed each, or your next 0 or 1 speed attack will get +4 speed and your next speed <= 3 attack will get +2, or your next -1 (or less) speed attack will get +6 speed.

About Melancholic - agreed with Dgg, multiples cannot get pumped by QfV because they must be played, and a played copy of Melancholic can recieve QfV's floating speed bonus before another MM's static pushes it too high

The GfV floating part has been ruled this way previously. And played is still played (sadly...sometimes). Though it doesn't really matter, as MM has that nifty static...
